i forgot to liveblog the oscars but that was some bullshit right. like i cannot imagine a world where obaa has HALF the legacy that sinners is going to. and the energy in the room felt so palpably in sinners' favour. every win was accompanied by a standing ovation. so was the performance of i lied to you. golden didn't get anywhere near the same reaction. so the academy is just fake a fuck??? unsurprising but maddening nonetheless

okay here's the thing with satire
there's a reason it's an art it's because it is VERY HARD to ride the thin line between painfully true & funny and just plain out painfully offensive and it is done often so wrong people forget what it looks like done right and accept misogynistic, racist, homophobic bullshit as satire when really it's just a bunch of tasteless ""jokes"" that pick on groups of people society ALREADY SHITS ON DAILY
and people think that it's just ~*social justice warriors*~ getting upset about nothing but in reality there is good satire and it is out there and i'm not going to complain about it because unlike the shit i saw tonight it doesn't kick people while they're down
