Las Vegas Reporter Named AP News Editor For Hawaii, Pacific Rim
The Associated Press has named Las Vegas reporter Oskar Garcia news editor for Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. Judging from the AP announcement, Garcia, who is 30, is an up-and-comer among social media-savvy journalists:
He has also been at the forefront of AP’s social media efforts, including training for staff and journalists outside the AP. ...
In his new role, Garcia will be based in Honolulu. He will oversee Hawaii’s staff and statewide coverage, as well as Guam, American Samoa and Saipan.
Garcia replaces longtime Hawaii bureau chief Jaymes Song, who recently left to pursue a career in real estate.
