I just saw your reply to a YKS question. And regarding to you saying DeD is better than YKS it’s definitely hard to compare considering the two are different types of stories. The first being a family drama and the second one more of a social issue/love story. Also personally I felt that Asfi’s character was beautiful. I personally liked him more than Asher and with Wali ( I truly do love the character) but when I look back at the bit where he literally dragged Faraah out of her 1/2
house, I’m not about that as much. I know he would never have hurt her in any way but still. Also you said that Osmaya have done everything Asfiya got to, do you mean in terms of the story? Oh btw I watched the girl who played Asfi’s fiancé in a drama called Mujhay Jeenay Do and she’s acc bearable in it, mostly bcs it’s a positive role 😂 2/2
I was comparing the hype around DeD/YKS. Both the shows were primarily about something else but all the hype was mostly around the love story and the male lead. And while the genres of the shows were different they did follow a similar pattern i.e. the stories were divided into two halves. In DeD the first was dedicated to Agha Jaan’s sons. YKS was all about Daniyal. Then in the second half the mantle of the male lead is take by the “hero” (Wali/Asfi). I have seen multiple parallels of Daniyal/Suhaib with the fans saying Daniyal’s demise hurt the same way Suhaib’s untimely death did as both of them died without their dreams unfulfilled. Yes, circumstances were hugely different as they ARE different stories but the essence is the same.
As for my issues with Asfi toh I never said he wasn’t a good character or a good hero. He was. My issue is that the story became ALL about him. His life. His family. His past. His future. Everyone else came secondary, even Zubi. I said it before in another ask...Zubi didn’t even get the charge of her own story. Asfi had to come in and save her literally and metaphorically. Which wasn’t the case in DeD as Wali, despite being Faraa’s savior, didn’t fight her battles for her. I’m the first in line to say that Faraa’s emotions weren’t properly explored but at least she reached her own conclusion by herself. If she made mistakes, she repented as well. She realized her own flaws by herself when she got the chance to learn the truth. We saw her apologize for and regret her actions. And it was only at the very end did Wali take her out of her depression that she was going to lose everything by confessing that he loved her and wanted to marry her. Khair..that toh is because DeD was just a better novella. YKS’s novella was all about Zubi but the drama wasn’t. DeD struck a better balance between its protagonists than YKS did. Hence DeD >>>>>> YKS.
As for Wali dragging Faraa out of her house toh while explainable it wasn’t a justifiable act and it sucks ke he never got to apologize for it (aah..my purane zakham -_-) STILL! I’d much rather take Wali’s one wrong action stemming from major rage than him taking all of Faraa’s agency from the story. I have simply outgrown the phase where I’d squeal and find delight in watching the guy do everything while the girl is left simpering. Faraa cried a LOT to the point of it being annoying but despite her tears, she still had a firm grip on the reins of her own story.
Another thing OsMaya did better is all the offscreen stuff. Asfiya are a good looking couple but c’mon...that instant magic of OsMaya in one frame..wo wali baat unn mein kahan? I AM heavily biased but bruh..that walk they did for Warda Saleem. Aye hayye hayyeee! Legit the only pairing who know how to have FUN with the chemistry they share. Twirling, winking, smiling, blowing kisses, and doing aadaabs. They are just an utter delight in everything they do!! Asfiya are too...generic for me.
