A lot of the outdoor mosaics at Ostia were still under winter storage when I visited, but a few were uncovered. I wish I could have seen more but I absolutely respect the need for preservation.

It was humid, we drank espresso from tiny paper cups on the beach, picked figs off trees and read Pasolini’s prose on the bus.
