Otay Mountain straddles the US-Mexico border between San Diego and Tijuana. Migrants cross the border on its slopes while Border Patrol Agents search for them in the dark. With its range of rare fauna and flora the mountain is an official ‘Wilderness’ area and is also home to a small community of settler families whose early presence is documented in the archive photographs of Hazel Sheckler. Many people are also believed to have seen ghosts on these slopes.

The work was initiated as part of a group project with 15 other Magnum photographers which was shown at the Bronx Documentary Centre in 2020.

I just want you guys to know that when I see your posts about being in pain or being sad, it makes me sad too. I wish I could hold you all or sit with you and take your pain or sadness away.

I just want you to know that I think about you guys. I think about the blogs that haven’t posted for a while and the blogs that never post again and the ones that have been deleted. I wonder where you guys are and what you’re doing. If you’re better today.

woken up by pan clambering over me and making weird licky noises because a spider was descending from the ceiling toward my head.

i was chatting with our truck driver about it because the forklift is having a severe and notable issue that was impacting my ability to quickly unload the truck and i was like "yeah theyre sending us a new battery... at some point... but i think we need a new one entirely" and he went "oh yeah you guys need a new one. ive been coming to this store since 2009 and that forklift has been here the whole time"
