Hoot :D
Sharing some fire ghoul and dewdrop headcanons (cause I recently wrote all of that down bc of the aforementioned big project)
In my headcanon, fire ghouls get deeply traumatised in hell. They are at the bottom of the food chain and ghouls of other elements can easily hunt them down. They are usually smaller and pretty weak. There are a few bigger fire ghouls (like Ifrit and Alpha). These fire ghouls have the task to protect a group of fire ghouls. Failing at that job and having part (or all) of your ghouls you were supposed to protect killed is incredibly traumatic (as well as generally being scared at all times and having to be careful/wary).
On earth, they have to work through that trauma (or they don‘t. Which makes them act out and dangerous to other ghouls and especially to siblings).
Dewdrop wasn‘t a fire ghoul in the pits but he got his fair share of trauma because of the elemental transition which is why he acts like a “proper” fire ghoul

Oohhh this idea is really cool! It would explain why Ifrit and Alpha are so often portrayed as assholes (though in my mind Ifrit isn't one at all, he's basically just a st bernard. Very sweet. Doesn't know his own strength). I've always thought that Dew retains a lot of his water ghoul personality too. A little more aloof than other fire ghouls. Not extraverted or outgoing (except in very specific situations). He's not quiet necessarily. But not excitable in the same way Alpha and Ifrit are. Dew's anger is so much more of a slow burn. But I also headcanon Dew very differently than most people *shrug*. All that being said, I love this little bit of fire ghoul lore. And that Dew's trauma is the reason he fits right in with them is just such a nice (angsty) touch. Thank you so much for sharing, Owlish. I'm really into this. ♥
