Othercon 2023
We're going to be doing a panel about dæmons and the dæmon community for Othercon this year.
And [insert screaming and panicking noises].
Like are we ready physically (we have our slides and our script) but we fear we're not ready emotionally (but we think that every time we present something, soo...) - Sky Singer (he/him)
The possibility of an alterhuman survey mailing list
I’m just thinking out loud here, mind. I MIGHT be the one to make this, if nobody else does, but it IS something I’ve never dabbled in before.
That said, the possibility of making a mailing list for alterhuman surveys caught my attention during my panel at Othercon. A lot of the beings there were also very interested, it seems. A lot of them aren’t really on social media, but may want to help and give input on such things. So I imagine it wouldn’t be hard to create an interest for the project, and to get subscribers.
The issue, I suppose, is getting the surveys themselves.
I wonder:
What would the submission process be for submitting your survey to be sent out?
Would it run exclusively on submitted surveys? That would really limit the scope of the project at the start, no?
What if the creator found a survey outside of what is submitted? Would they ask the survey-runner permission, and then mail it out?
Or is that unnecessary? Most survey runners WANT to have as many beings take their survey as they can. I can’t imagine anyone getting upset about their survey being included in a mailing list…
That said, weirder things have happened.
I’ve heard really good things about Buttondown.email’s newsletter software…
What do you think the most ethical way to go about all of this would be? My inbox is open.
Come hear me be annoying about Archetropes!
Because I haven't dominated the archetrope channel enough already!
Jokes aside, I am hosting a panel about archetropy at Othercon this week. It will be a short (30 minute) presentation about archetypal identities, their relationship to other alterhuman identities, and the ongoing development of the community.
Also there are other, cooler panelists and Othercon is totally free and online. Go register if you haven't, I bet there's something you'd like.
Wow, yeah, turns out I'm a daemian. I was under the badly mistaken impression that 1. Daemons worked more like daydream paras and could never have genuine autonomy 2. Daemons always had to take the form of an animal 3. Daemons were incapable of tulpa-esque possession.
Time to stop frustrating ourselves with the fact we can't switch fully and just enjoy life
holy shit thank you to the 150 people who attended my OtherCon panel YOU ARE NOT A MUSEUM PIECE! The energy was FANTASTIC and I had SUCH A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I inspired you guys and helped you discover how you wanna put yourself out there!
