Send 💑 for a first kiss.
The decision is rash, stupid, reckless, but Phoenix has been all of those things at one point or another in his life. It doesn’t matter. He knows he must be right. There’s something here, right now in this moment, and he isn’t letting it get away from him. It’s pulled at his heart for too long.
“Miles.”
The name slides from his lips like an afterthought. He isn’t thinking. He just moves, closing the little distance left between them, and lets his hand brush against Miles’s cheek.
As his hand hesitates by his jaw, Phoenix pauses for only a second, his eyes darting between Miles’s own. His teeth clench and the muscles in his own jaw jump. Maybe he’s scared, but he can’t turn back now.
And he kisses him, softly, as though everything he’s done has weighed on this moment because, you know, maybe it has.
Miles Edgeworth has been a piece of every day in his life since grade school, even when he faded out through middle school and high school. Phoenix always found himself thinking about him again. Be it through old memories tucked away in places he never thought he’d find them again, newspapers, reports on television or the radio… He always found his way back to Miles and he wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him.
All of those feelings flood him and he presses a little bit closer before he swears his eyes are burning with tears boiling up behind his eyelids and he pulls away.
“Sorry.” He brushes the one tear that escapes his eye from underneath his eyelid and chuckles. “I probably should have asked first…”
