One moment Jackson glowed as if he were the sun itself. Warm and bright with life. His eyes shone with the strength of a bonfire and the beauty of a thousand stars. The next Jack was as pale and gentle as the moon in the night sky. A beauty that was only rivaled by the moon’s gaze when it was cast through the ice on Glacier Island. It was a comparison that Hiccup couldn’t help but lose himself in. Jackson was to Jack like the Sun was to the Moon.
It was clear to Hiccup then. Jack was beautiful. No matter what universe they happened to be a part of.
And he loved him in each and every single one of them.

This was such a fun piece to do! Left is Jackson from my fanfiction, On the Road of the Aurora Borealis and the right is Jack from @antiqueginger ‘s fanfiction Times Touch
Warnings: Might make you squeal with how hard Hiccup is pining for Jack. Just saying.
Jack looked up at him and Hiccup’s breath caught in his throat. At this angle and how the sun was shining down on them, Jack’s eyes sparkled like two brilliant and priceless pieces of amber. Jack had this tender expression on his face- it was warm like the sun beams dancing delicately on their skin and it was soft- Oh gods was it soft- with his lips slightly turned up in a smile. It was like Hiccup was gazing up at the sun itself. Only Jack didn’t blind him- No, Jack mesmerized him. Enchanted him. From his ruffled soft and messy hair that fell around his face, the dusting of freckles that dotted his cheeks and nose, to his brows that slightly furrowed upwards- Yeah... Jack was sun, he decided- and Hiccup only wanted Jack’s light to shine on him for as long as possible. If he had his way, it would be for the rest of his life and then for eternity afterward. Hiccup felt butterflies flutter around in his stomach and was sure there was a crimson blush darkening his cheeks.
Hiccup smiled sheepishly back at him only for Jack’s smile to widen and crinkle the corner of his eyes. Hiccup’s heart flipped and then soared a moment later when Jack let out a soft laugh. What was funny he didn’t know but he found himself laughing softly along with him.
“Hiccup...” Jack breathed out his name in that soft timber voice that always managed to ignite a warmth in Hiccup’s chest. Hiccup could listen to him speak for hours and it didn’t matter what the subject was- if it was Jack talking, he’d listen for however long Jack let him just so he could listen to his voice.
“Y-yeah?” his voice wavered with the force of his pounding heart. He watched as Jack looked up at the sky and the bloom of red and orange hues that was the sunset ahead of them. The sun bathed Jack in its warm light and the boy almost seemed- no, it wasn’t almost, Hiccup was sure Jack was glowing. He always seemed to have a glow about him, Hiccup had noticed. Either when he spoke of his father, or the stories he loved so much, or just when he was sitting by himself without noticing that Hiccup had been staring. Jack glowed- and it was one of the most beautiful things Hiccup had ever seen.
Now was no exception. But with the sun’s generous addition, Jack was positively ethereal.
Jack didn’t speak again. He only closed his eyes and took in a deep breath of the evening air. He remained like that for a long moment before opening his eyes again and glancing over at Hiccup. He let out another soft laugh that Hiccup couldn’t help but ask about this time.
“What’s so funny?” Hiccup asked him, feeling his lips turn up in a smile.
It was Jack’s turn to blush. His cheeks turned a soft rosy pink and all Hiccup wanted to do was cup those warm cheeks in his hands and kiss him right then. He almost did before Jack answered.
“I-” he started with a bashful smile. He glanced down at the grass under them and how close their hands were among with blades. “You just have this- expression on your face. It’s kind of funny-”
“Hey-” Hiccup quipped but there was no anger or irritation in his tone from the other’s words. Hiccup’s chest bloomed with a sense of pride despite the guilty look on Jack’s face. It was Hiccup himself who had taught Jack most of what he knew of Norse and now Jack was mostly fluent in the language. Not that he minded when Jack spoke Greek. On the contrary, Hiccup longed to listen to Jack speak in his native tongue. It was gorgeous the way Jack’s voice hummed around every word he spoke. Though Hiccup couldn’t understand most of what he said still so Jack was kind enough to speak Norse. He would sound native if it wasn’t for his melodious accent. Though Hiccup wouldn’t have it any other way.
“That’s not what I meant!” Jack told him quickly with that lopsided smile that told Hiccup that he might have meant it like that just a little.
“Then what did you mean?” he asked with a sudden burst of confidence. Hiccup leaned a little closer to him, feeling their fingers brush between them.
“I mean-” Jack continued before those amber eyes flicked up to watch him move closer. He paused, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to formulate what he was trying to say. Hiccup swore he saw Jack glance down at his lips and Hiccup couldn’t help but let his own gaze fall to Jack’s.
“I mean- it looked like you laid eyes on some sort of- I don’t know, treasure or something like that-” Jack told him but Hiccup could tell that that wasn’t what he really wanted to say by the way his eyes glanced away and then back again.
Hiccup smiled softly anyway, leaning closer to him still with that sense of confidence surging up from his stomach to his chest. It was now or never, Hiccup thought as he glanced down at Jack’s plush pink lips. The memory of kissing him when he wasn’t as drunk as he let on that night all those months ago was so fresh in his mind that he was almost convinced that it had happened only last night. It hadn’t but his lips tingled like the moment had just passed.
“Maybe...” Hiccup breathed out. “Maybe I had.” Hiccup glanced up at Jack just in time to watch his pretty eyes widen just a fraction.
“Hiccup-” Jack breathed out though he had no intention of saying anything more.
“Jack...” Hiccup whispered so softly he wasn’t even sure he had said it before pressing his lips to Jack’s ever so gently.
It was just as it had been that night- a flame climbed up Hiccup’s spine and exploded in his chest. Jack’s lips were just as he remembered them. Soft, warm, gentle- with the faint taste of that sweet bread that Jack seemed to always have on hand.
It took a moment, but Jack’s lips slowly pressed further against Hiccup’s. The sun now held in his arms leaned into him and Hiccup gently took his hand, lacing their fingers together slowly. The kiss was so much more than what they’d shared than night- it was slow and gentle and warm and just...
