Hey @resolucationNo I am so sorry I don’t live in London!! I assume you mean London, Ontario? I live in Ottawa though, so just a few hours away hahaha. Sorry to get your hopes up!
Here's some vegan eats from around Ottawa! Sorry for the MIA food spam. Top left: from Perfection, Satisfaction, Promise Vegetarian Restaurant: "Perfection Bowl" with mashed potatoes, tamari tofu, & steamed veggies. Top right: Cafe Nostalgica, deep fried tofu stuffed with sushi rice & bean medley soup Bottom: from Perfection, Satisfaction, Promise Vegetarian Restaurant. Vegan burger with lettuce, tomatoe, pickle, red onion & vegan mayo + garden salad 😍😍😍
Hangry in the Kitchen
As much as I love eating at restaurants, my wallet isn't a huge fan.
Luckily, I've (slowly and with many mishaps) developed a love for cooking at home. I find it very meditative and have actually come to look forward to creating a delicious dish each day. Up until quite recently, I seemed to believe that pouring hot sauce on a dish was the only way to flavour food. Hesitantly, I began to experiment with other spices such as basil, oregano, and paprika, to see if these flavours could provide me with an alternative, yet enjoyable, flavour experience.
I slowly began to realize that quality ingredients and spices really do matter. Although they can be a bit more expensive, I would advise skipping the bag of chips and using that money to buy real, natural, and wholesome foods instead. You will certainly taste the difference!
This is my typical daily breakfast. I grill the tomatoes with some basil sprinkled on top, creating a bruschetta type flavour. I mash up an avocado and mix it with some olives (strange, but delicious) and sprinkle hemp hearts, pink Himalayan salt, cilantro, and (real) olive oil on top- hella tasty!
So, although restaurants provide delicious dishes and an overall enjoyable experience, I find that for me it is important to develop a balance between the two. As I learn more about food, I am able to take that restaurant experience back into the kitchen with me and create something awesome!
Hangry no more,
T
