"Mm, who cares if you're late? You're already early everywhere," Roche said between kisses to Iorveth's neck.
Iorveth smiled as Roche's hands buried in his hair, gently touching the gardenia hairpin he'd bought as a betrothal gift that winter. Roche slowly pulled back, taking in the absolute beauty of the elf he was lucky enough to call his.
"Be safe, my love," Roche said, looking up into the bright green eye.
"Please, you're still the only one who's allowed to send me to an early grave"
Iorveth gave one of his rare smiles at Roche's short laugh, gently leaning into the human's arms and pressing a kiss to his lips.
"I love you, Vernon"
"I love you too. Come back soon, I can't imagine how boring it will be here with you gone"
hmm i'm gonna tag @useless-empty-brain cause your writing never fails to make me absolutely sob
Hello otterintheflightdeck! ❤️Thank you so much for sending me this ask!
From the Fanfic Ask Game!
And now to answer your questions! 😄
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
In terms of non-fanfic writers, I consider Jane Austen an influence on me. I fell in love with her writing when I was 15 and read Pride & Prejudice for the first time (actually, I might have been 14 when I read that one, but I was 15 when I read the rest of her stuff) and I love that every time I’ve re-read that novel over the years, it still makes me laugh and there always seems to be something new I notice or learn. It’s probably obvious I consider Austen an influence, given that my Regency AU DA2 longfic is pretty much a homage to P&P 😆
In terms of fanfic writers -- honestly? ALL of them have been an influence on me in some way. I stumbled on Dragon Age 2 fanfiction in late 2011 by accident, and it was an absolute revelation. Like.... just.... all these people just writing whatever they liked about these characters I also loved??? Whether it was good or bad or something completely out there and outrageous, it was amazing. And really freeing.
I devoured it all, even fics that squicked me or didn’t really appeal to me (LOL as an example -- I still have the very first mpreg fic I ever read in 2011 on my phone, and it was a HUGE revelation to me at the time because such a thing never occurred to me, and here was someone just WRITING it and their fic was beautiful and moving and poignant despite what most people might think of the trope), because I was just so AMAZED that you could just.... WRITE whatever you wanted, and someone out there would read it and appreciate it. I lurked for two more years before taking the plunge and publishing my own DA2 fics.
But I will always be thankful to those fanfic writers who came before me for showing me the way, for showing me you really ARE free to write whatever you want, good or bad or in-between, and for inadvertently giving the me the confidence to write my own because of the fics they had written.
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
I had to think long and hard about this one, because I will honestly read anything if it’s got an interesting premise and doesn’t have a ship I dislike in it. I think as long as it’s well-written and in-character, you can make anything work.
Hmmmm, let’s see.... I suppose I don’t really tend to read high school AUs or college AUs, maybe because I’m a Brit and my experience of secondary school and university is so different to the American high school and American college experience? I dunno. I suppose I don’t really read coffee shop AUs either. Again, it’s hard to say because if something has a premise that interests me and is well-written (and is about the DA2 characters) I’ll probably read it.
Actually, now that I think about it -- one trope I CAN’T stand (although this isn’t one I’ve seen in the fanfics I’ve read to be fair) is the common 20th-century romance novel trope of “good-looking arsehole man gets the girl, even though he’s horrible to her -- maybe even kinda rapey and controlling -- because he loves her so much, while she’s a naive ingénue who doesn’t recognise at first what a perfect man he is”. I had a friend in my teenage years who was really into Mills & Boon romance novels and lent them to me, and I never finished any of them for that reason LOL. Thankfully I haven’t really seen this trope in the Dragon Age fanfics I’ve read.
Mega-late Fanfic Writer Friday question: Why did you want to romance Hancock from the get-go, even before you knew much about him? Was it just the weird factor of being able to canonically romance a ghoul, or was there something else about him that caught your eye?
WELL so I knew absolutely nothing about Fallout going in, except I’d somehow picked up on the fact that there was a guy named Hancock in it who was a burn victim maybe?? So I was definitely a little 👀 when I found out he was a romance option (and that he was, in fact, a ghoul, haha). And while I was coming up with Lizzy’s character, someone in one of my servers pointed out how interesting it would be to pair Hancock with a vain character, so that really cinched it.
That said, I wouldn’t have let it stop me if I felt she worked out better with another romance, but I think because I leaned into the aspects that I thought would play off Hancock well, it didn’t really happen. Coming off BioWare games, though, there was a point where I got frustrated by how ... static? the character development was. You get these wonderful characters with great potential, but you have to do all the legwork yourself to figure out how they actually relate to the player character and what their relationship would be like, and it didn’t really click for me until I maxed out Hancock’s affinity, especially since he doesn’t have a companion quest or anything. A big part of writing Flotsam was actually just so I could get him to say something about Sole’s backstory because I was so annoyed at how it’s never addressed in game. OTOH I do feel Hancock is one of the few companions who’s in a stable enough place to properly deal with how much of a handful Lizzy is, but let’s just say that “this isn’t a BioWare game, this isn’t a BioWare game” was my mantra for a good part of the game.
Couple of questions about Amy: Are there any decisions she regrets? Are there any hobbies she'd like to pick up or any places she'd like to visit if she had the time & opportunity to do so?
I am always up for questions about Amy, so thank you :D ♥
Any decisions she regrets:
I can’t give any details without driving headfirst into story spoilers, but yes. She’s got several regrets. One of them is a result of her not being more open with Thane (though she had very good reasons to be reticent) and the other was a result of her having gotten herself stupid drunk when she knew she needed a clear head.
Are there any hobbies she’d like to pick up?
She loves drones. Seeing all the ways drones are used in the future (in everyday life) has her so excited. She tries Kepesh-Yakshi and though she enjoys the game she doesn’t like all the shocking involved.
Any places she’d like to visit?
Everywhere. Amy wants to see the galaxy. Her secret sadness, something she knows is selfish, is that she’ll never get to see all the worlds in their natural, pristine state. Even as a non-combatant she tries to visit every place that Shepard goes to, even if it’s just for a few minutes, because the idea of being able to travel to and walk on other planets is something that will never fail to thrill her.
Hello! Curious to see what you'd make of this mix: At a tavern/bar / Drunk Confession / "Kiss me while everyone’s looking.” Would love some Geralt/Iorveth, but Iorveth/Roche is good too :D
Oops, sorry, I got lazy yesterday night! Looked through my original fiction and found this:
The coals of the brazier had long burned themselves out. The cold and the square pillar had left his back sore and stiff. He stretched, careful not to wake the pain that always lurked beneath the skin of his back, like an immersed toad waiting for prey in a pond.
(… I may have been slightly reaching with that simile, good lord.)
Do you have a pic of the DE keychains, by any chance? I'm very tempted to pre-order, but I'd be curious to see how the material & holo finish look IRL.
Hello friend!
Thank you so much!
Since this is a pre-order, i do not have any finished Keychains here :( so I cannot show them to you unfortunately.
However, I found this picture online of Keychains using the star holigraphic pattern on top that my keychains will also have! It will look similar to this (MIND YOU THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE OR MY KEYCHAIN, JUST A GOOGLE EXAMPLE I FOUND):
Depending on how you move and turn the keychain, the stars will appear and sparkle! :)
I hope this helped! <3
EDIT: The keychains will also be made of transparent acrylic and then printed on both sides with the slightly different designs of Harry and Kim. :)
