Yes, r!Verso haunts the narrative but what about how Julie haunts p!Verso.
She’s there in everything he does and everything he is, because he loved her but then he killed her.
They are a tragedy. Neither of their stories can exist without the other. Verso was Julie’s end, but she was his beginning, in a sense. She was one of his first experiences with real deep regret, and her murder still haunts him all these years later. He still talks to her in his mind, still pretends shes here when he’s the reason she’s not. They are both wrong and victims, simultaneously. They are tore apart by mutual distrust even through their love. And this leads into the main campaign of the game as well, because this type of thinking is what eventually damns the rest of the characters.

I don't like how everything turned out here in the end...but so be it.

Cause I can't see and I can't feel But the color in your eyes Is sayin' if my dreams come up empty And I wash up on the shore You would find me at the beach In every life, through every door

Had the absolute pleasure of commissioning @yelenhol for this insanely gorgeous art of Aline and Renoir. I cannot recommend them enough. An absolute pleasure to work with. Look at it. It makes me insane.

Don’t look at it, Verso.

An upset candle, left unattended by a bribed servant late at night. That is the addendum The Forum added. The family would have already retired after the celebration, the other servants asleep in their quarters. Nobody would see the flame grow or know its carnage until death pounded at their doors.
Why this lethal act for such an innocent commissioner? The reason is simple - the young lady’s family had been confirmed by the confidant to be part of the Painters’ Council.
It would be simple enough to be passed off as an accident, if necessary, and so small a change that an impossible narrative would pose no true risk to poison the young lady’s mind. My version of the Story was given to her uncredited, and the addendum was locked away in The Forum’s library. They intended to take ownership of the fire if any in the family died as a result, to send a message to others on the Painters’ Council of the power a Writer can wield.
A declaration of war.
