ough jason wanting bruce's love in any way possible and when he finds out bruce desires him in a way no father should desire their son, he convinces himself he wants that with bruce. convinces himself he doesn't mind not being bruce's son anymore as long as bruce will still pay attention to him and love him at least in some way
even if a part of him he shoved down only wants to be bruce's little boy, he tells himself it's okay. he'll let himself be kept in any way bruce will keep him. he pushes down the nausea he feels whenever he sees bruce be a loving, doting father to damian and tim and cass just to turn around and kiss his lips so gently. (maybe he even starts to get jealous-- not of the others for getting bruce's parental side but because he starts seeing them as competition. jason used to be bruce's kid too after all. what if it's only a matter of time before bruce tosses him away again for a newer model?)
the thing is, jason wants to be mad. he wants to tell bruce he hates this. but... bruce is so nice now. he kisses him so softly and hugs him like he's precious. he speaks to him in this loving voice that makes his insides warm and his cheeks flush. he calls him baby and sweetheart, and no longer looks at him like he's everything he's ever regretted. his face isn't bruised anymore. this is everything jason has ever wanted since he was a little kid sitting on his ratty mattress and reading a moldy classic romance novel.
...right?
and maybe dick can tell something is wrong, that jason looks kind of upset despite the fact that his relationship with bruce has never been better. but dick will convince himself nothing is wrong because bruce is finally doing better and the other kids finally have the father bruce has always needed to be. it's just jason, right? he's never happy anyways.
