Thoughts on 405 Breaking Glass
Loved how an Emma & Regina centric ep was lovingly bookend by 2 beautiful scenes- Well played A&E, well played & it didnt go unnoticed ;)
Loved the warm smiles & tender kiss on the cheek good bye- Also loved how it addressed the whole Henry does like Killian still, wants to spend time sailing with him & enjoys his company. Emma with Will is great- doesnt pay to mess with Emma's dates, dude- it trebles your jail time & down grades your meal plans to "used" :p
Loved the Emma backstory- I admit I spent a lot of it staring at Lilly trying to place her, only to IMBD her & realise she is off Defiance- Big props to the makeup department for making her look so friggn young! I totally couldnt place her because of their artistry & it was driving me nuts, as she looked so darn familiar lol. They really are going all out on "youthful glow" these days (see what I did there ;) ). Lilly surly must be going to feature again at some point.... it seems odd they'd point out the star 'birthmark' so decisively for nothing & she was wearing a key around her neck- didnt MM wear a key around her neck in SB for a while?
Wasnt overly found of Regina's hypocritical attitude, I get Emma is in the place where she can see how Regina lashing out, mirrors her past self & she can relate to that (since it's what she did- esp to Killian), but UGH! Pull your head in Regina- you singlehandedly destroyed Emma's life, made Snow's life a living nightmare for a good 2 decades, screwed with Charming's life to the point they are all still dealing with the outcomes of it all, murdered Emma's grandfather, tried to kill Emma herself, killed Graham because you saw Emma & he had a 'thing', cursed an entire realm & yet you have the nerve act like a totally innocent victim, by saying Emma ruined your life?!?.... Seriously?! you left Robin at the tavern, you chose not to go after your HEA before destroying a bunch a lives..... Are you kidding me?! I actually started to grind my teeth at her diatribe, it grated my nerves that much...*reminds self it's just a TV show, it's just a TV show* lol I do like that Emma wants to be friends with Regina since they have to co parent Henry & I did love Regina's touched expression that Emma simply wanted to be friends, had hoped they kind of already were friends & that she could relate to her etc. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how their friendship develops in the future.... here's hoping I dont end up grinding my teeth to nubs in the process though lol ;)
I Love a good magic show, so enjoyed Emma & Regina teaming up again to defeat the ice warrior (Has Regina always had red magic? ... I thought her magic was purple???? Might be time to either rewatch or get the old eyes checked again me thinks), also loved how Elsa over came her fears without Anna, to stick it to the SQ- loved how the SQ's legs went up in the air as she hit the ground- that totally had me lol :p (although I'm thinking that was what the SQ wanted- Elsa over coming her fear, since it was a little to easy IMO)
Someone really should have told Elsa about cemeteries & traps before leaving her alone in a parked car, on a dark misty night in a cemetery... that had either 'beginning of B grade horror movie' or 'trap' written all over it ;)
Sydney growing a backbone = awesome, I loved that little mini arc & I gonna be honest, enjoyed that Regina got her comeuppance with loosing Sydney & his compliance, thanks to her self-centered, bullying attitude.
Snowing was totally cute- Loved the Thor shout out (I LOVE the Thor movies... I mean that be some darn YUMMMMMMMYYYYYY eye candy feasting & LOL snarky sass, right there- like seriously, Thor's bod is just..... *fans self & dashes off for cold shower*)
Snow & Will scene was fantastic, injecting a nice moment of humor in the middle of the worlds longest b!%@h session- mind my french.
LOVING the subtle menacing of the Snow Queen. EM is doing an outstanding job with the role- I think she could be my favorite villain to date ;) I must say I did cringe when I saw the state of the bottom of her gown though... (seriously- I promise, I dont wear dresses or skirts or really anything girly at all if I'm honest lol, but even I noticed that & can appreciate the work of art it is, being dragged through the sticks & mud - ouch!) I pity whomever has to try clean/restore it!
I'm thinking that the darkness imbued in the mirror Sydney got her is what allows her to make her mirror/glass shards "dark"... Looks like everything is tying together for us to get at least that part of the classic Snow Queen/ mirror/ glass shard tale.
Still loving Emma & Elsa's easy friendship- maybe Elsa should stay on as a therapist olaf coach (sorry it was begging me to do it) ;) :p
Emma & killian at the end- aww, good lord can they be any sweeter! My little shipper heart about burst out of my chest, to have the episode wonderfully framed by moments of killian’s love & support of Emma & ending the episode on that note- Killian being the one Emma wanted, the one she turned to for comfort. The heart wrenching scene of Emma sitting alone after a horrible emotional painful day, she'd been pushed away, verbally abused & brow beaten, afraid for Elsa/her new best friends safety, fought a snow monster, been choked/gagged by the SQ, faced a past demon (her regret at not forgiving Lily) & Killian turns up to cheer her up, offer her love, comfort & support. His genuine concern, asking if she's ok? Getting her to smile despite being down (I just love how he manages to that for her time & again). Emma opening up, allowing him in deeper, allowing him to share in her painful childhood memories- something she hasnt allowed anyone else to do, allowing him to see the little mementos of her past, the 'special' things that mean something to her. His pleasure in her past treasures- her glasses, the ring (yeah- really subtle guys- like I didnt hear or see that freight train or anything ;) ), their shared loss of Neal. Killian taking Emma's hand & entwining their fingers (tumbler has never been so full of hand holding pics ;) ) to comfort her, let her know he's right there with her if she needs him to lean on, asks her to show him more of her beginnings- eliciting another smile & small chuckle. His seeing her immense sadness & pain while watching 'her old friend' on the tape & answering it by wrapping his arm around her shoulders without letting her hand go, just so she can lean into him, taking comfort & support in his closeness, knowing no words could give the reassurance & comfort that his actions could offer her. Emma's reaction to simply lean into him, closing her eyes & relishing his comfort & presence was heart warming & a real tribute to how far Emma has come emotionally. Killian's frequent, quick little glances to ensure she is ok, were thoroughly endearing, here is a man who loves this women with all his heart- the love these 2 so casually display for each other in the little moments is simply mind blowing & a true testament to the level of emotional acting these guys bring to the party. No sane person could possibly deny the love portrayed there & how beautifully that relationship is blossoming.
We need to remember how Emma fully embracing Killian's presence when she's in a highly emotional state, is a real treasure, as it highlights just how far Emma Swan has come on her journey. Not only is she accepting comfort & support from Killian when he offers it, she has become totally unguarded in her acceptance of it & that is truly immense (& heart breaking with whats likely to come) given our introduction to her- guarded to the point of even declining an offer of a place to stay rather than her car. Then we have Emma seeing her past actions reflected in Regina's current one's & so refuses to back down & to be pushed away- just as Killian did for her, she is doing for Regina. She's learnt to fight for the people that matter in her life & like it or not Regina matters to Henry, so she matters to Emma too. It was amazing to see how much Emma has grown, she's letting the past go & simply embracing things as they stand in the here & now, which is it's own kind of special.
I came into this week thinking & expecting the episode would not hold it's own against the last 4 FANTASTIC episodes, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there was few moments that had me grinding my teeth in frustration, in an attempt to prevent myself acting like a crazy person & yelling at a bunch of pixels like they could respond lol, but overall I ended up loving this episode for the insights & the character growth it highlighted in Emma Swan, she has come so very far on this fantastical journey & I cant wait to see her go so much further :)
