season 7, episode 9 : True Love’s Kiss

present : At Castle Misthaven, Ruby and Cynthia's wedding takes center stage. It is a massive affair, and every royal family in the realm is in attendance – no one has ever seen Granny cry like this before. On Bald Mountain, Chernabog has begun raised his undead army, lead by the former Servants. Gold is distraught when he realizes that Chernabog only woke Nathaniel from the dead to be another soldier in the army, and reconsiders his side in the war. He finally recognizes Maleficent as Morraine, Baelfire's childhood friend, and she convinces him to stick with Chernabog. At Castle Edgeshore, Henry returns to find Regina, surrounded by attendants, Gerard at her side and attempting to waken her with a kiss, but it will not work. Henry comes to a realization and explains: true love isn't about destiny, it's about developing a relationship, supporting one another, working together to figure out your paths through life. Regina may like Gerard, but they hardly know one another. Recalling Emma's kiss that woke him from the Sleeping Curse in Storybrooke, Henry kisses his mother on the cheek, and Regina awakens. Regina quickly alerts them to the plan of attack being developed by Chernabog, Gold, Maleficent, and the other former Servants. Regina, Henry, and Gerard use the storybook to travel to Misthaven and warn everyone. Emma and Mary Margaret call upon Evelyn and the fairies to spread word throughout the land, and the royal families and their armies begin to prepare for the coming battle...

past : Ripped from her home and thrown into training for the Ogre Wars, thirteen-year-old Morraine holds onto her last shred of hope knowing that her friend Baelfire will join her in just a couple days. When he never arrives, Morraine loses all hope and resigns herself to her fate. But Morraine guards a secret: she is half-fairy, orphaned as a child and taken in by human parents who taught her to hide her true nature and kept her true name a secret, knowing it would betray her. Morraine finds a friend in a boy named Harold – but a horrific incident on the battlefield leads to the revelation of her true nature when she transforms into a monstrous dragon. Only Harold witnesses this transformation, and Morraine thinks she is safe until she learns that Harold is actually the Crown Prince of the Land of Ever. She is taken captive by Harold father's, High King Edward, and used as a tool to end the Ogre Wars. She is passed like a family heirloom from Edward to Harold and then to Harold's son Stefan, used to keep enemies at bay. When Morraine finally escapes, she reclaims her true name – Maleficent – and vows revenge on the royal family. She finds her vengeance when she places a Sleeping Curse on Stefan's infant daughter and only heir to the throne. When the curse is eventually broken, Maleficent is defeated and spends her life in exile until a young Regina seeks out her out.

ONCE UPON A TIME : the reboot by drew and menelaos

season 7, episode 1 : Welcome Home

present : The inhabitants of Storybrooke wake up back in the Land of Ever and struggle to find their footing in their old home, having adjusted to the accommodations of living in modern-day Maine. The seven dwarfs put themselves directly to work introducing plumbing into Castle Misthaven. Mary Margaret takes her place as High Queen once again and officially pardons Regina for any and all crimes committed as both queen and mayor, as a way of thanking her for her assistance in breaking the Curse and ridding the realms of the Servant. Emma is conflicted about her new life as a princess and has the hardest time of anyone adjusting to a world where Ruby is a werewolf, Archie is a cricket, and Evelyn can only be reached by calling upon the evening star. Henry, on the other hand, adores his new home and is ready to seek out his first adventure. Although at first Mary Margaret believes the sickness she is experiencing is an aftereffect of the broken Curse, she soon learns that David left her with a parting gift – she is pregnant.

past : Regina Mills awakens for the first time as mayor of Storybrooke the night after casting the Dark Curse. She spends her first few days adjusting to her new life, exercising her new authoritative power over the town, and exploring to find out how exactly the curse affected everyone. She is particularly delighted to meet Mary Margaret Blanchard, now a meek and mild librarian, and Regina takes her to the hospital to see a John Doe coma patient and relishes in the fact that Snow White no longer recognizes her Prince Charming. Regina is delighted to find that the curse has maintained her sexual relationship with Sheriff Graham Buchanan but also finds frustration in the luxury that was given to Mr. Gold. When Regina begins researching the Land Without Magic, she decides to take a day trip to Boston – but when she tries to cross the town border and hits an invisible barrier, she begins to learn that the Curse still has rules for her: the people of Storybrooke are physically unable to leave the town. The inhabitants of the Land Without Magic are able to come and go from Storybrooke, allowing those within the town to maintain their livelihoods, but the Curse will never allow the outsiders to stay very long. These rules soon leave Regina feeling trapped by her own Curse.

season 7, episode 5 : Cygnet

present : In the Land of Ever, Regina establishes herself as the restored Queen of Edgeshore and struggles to handle the mixed reactions she receives. Still hoping to help her find her happy ending, Henry calls on the Blue Fairy, who obliges and attempts to prophecize the end of Regina's story: a sleeping curse, a kiss of true love, a man's death. Regina is frustrated – this is Mary Margaret's story, not hers. Privately, Evelyn enchants Henry's storybook so the pages will allow him to teleport throughout the Land of Ever. Meanwhile, there is unrest on Bald Mountain when Gold seeks revenge on Zoso, blaming him for trapping him as the Servant and causing the divide between himself and Baelfire. Despite being stuck on Bald Mountain, Gold manages to procure Pandora's Box and Gold traps Zoso within it – a fate worse than death; Chernabog is pleased with Gold's ruthlessness and appoints him as his second in command. In the Land Without Magic, Lily helps Emma, Cynthia, and Ruby find Ryan at the Bostonian home of Jefferson and Alice. He reveals that the breaking of the Dark Curse restored his memories and begins to tell them the story of his past that he, Jefferson, and Alice have begun to piece together...

past : Twenty-some years after the Dark Curse brought her to Storybrooke, Regina begins to yearn to share her life with someone else. As she has frozen everyone in a prison of time, no one around her experiences the world in quite the same way as she does, and though outsiders may visit Storybrooke to bring supplies, the curse always forces them to leave. She comes up with the idea to adopt a child, someone born in this Land Without Magic who will be forced to stay in the town with her. Mr. Gold agrees to procure a baby for her but advises that once she becomes a mother, it means putting the child's needs before her own. In a short time, he informs her of a baby from Boston who was placed with a family but the adoption papers did not go through. Regina passes the the parental background check and soon finds herself in the midst of motherhood with a baby, named “Henry” by his birth mother, who will not stop crying.

season 7, episode 4 : Lost Girl

present : In the Land of Ever, Henry decides to help a depressed Regina find her happy ending once and for all. He turns to Mary Margaret, who is sorting out the governmental structures of the Land of Ever, and suggests that Regina could take the throne in the kingdom of Edgeshore, where she ruled before the death of King Leopold. Mary Margaret agrees. Mary Margaret also appoints Ivy Langland and Matilda Fitzwalter as the new Queens of the kingdom of Thornhold, but this is met with resistance when Lord Gerard, the Sheriff of Nottingham, arrives in Misthaven, claiming that the throne of Thornhold is rightfully his. Meanwhile, in the Land Without Magic, Emma, Cynthia, and Ruby search Ryan’s apartment but find that he is gone. A chance encounter with Emma’s childhood friend, Lily, leads them to believe that Ryan may have regained his memories and may be searching for a way to reach the Land of Ever. The women decide to visit Alice and Jefferson, hoping Ryan may have paid them a visit in his search for jumping between realms.

past :   Moments after the Dark Curse is cast, an infant is found on the side of the road by a Maine state trooper. The girl, identified as “Emma” because of the name sewn onto the blanket she is wrapped in, is put into the foster system. As a teenager, Emma rebels by shoplifting at a grocery store. When she’s almost caught, a strange girl comes to her rescue. Emma and the girl, Lily, form a fast friendship as they find so much in common – they are both orphans in the foster system and neither seems to like their parents very much. When Lily comes over for dinner and lies to Emma’s foster parents about how they met, Emma confronts Lily and learns that she has been telling lies the whole time, and Lily isn’t even an orphan or a foster child. Emma is upset and asks Lily to leave. But Emma is awakened in the middle of the night by her foster parents who reveal that all of their money and jewelry has disappeared, and they angrily blame Emma for endangering their “real children” by bringing Lily into their home. Hurt by their words, Emma runs away.

season 7, episode 2 : The Forms of Things Unknown

present : Inspired by the Land of Ever’s potential for a happy ending, Emma decides to return to the Land Without Magic to find Ryan and unite her family once and for all. When Cynthia arrives from the Land of Oz to be with Ruby, Emma asks her about the nature of realm-jumping, and Cynthia reminds her about the rules of the totem that allows a person to jump to and from the Land Without Magic. Suddenly remembering that Merlin enchanted her swan necklace to allow her and Mary Margaret to jump through time, Emma uses it to take herself, Ruby, and Cynthia to the Land Without Magic once again. Regina eases herself back into life in the Land of Ever, gladly accepting a room in Castle Misthaven, and as a promise to Henry, she swears off any use of magic. Meanwhile, far, far away, on Bald Mountain, Chernabog has been brought back to life by the ending of the Servant’s cursed legacy and finds that he is surrounded by hundreds of other Servants, including Gold and Zoso. However, they are all bound to Bald Mountain, and cannot leave - but Chernabog has an idea of how they might gain their freedom once more.

past :  Thousands of years ago, Titania, queen of the fairies, gives birth to a pair of twins called Chernabog and Celestina. She raises them on their own, passing along the fairy traditions, knowledge that will be valuable throughout their immortal lives. But when the twins turn ten years old, their father, Oberon, kidnaps Chernabog and begins to corrupt his mind with dark magic. Titania raises Celestina to be wise, honest, good, and always helpful to others. When the twins reach adulthood, Oberon and Chernabog enchant a dagger that, for the first time, will be able to kill a fairy, and Chernabog is given the task of killing Titania. When he does so successfully, his sister is horrified and binds his soul to the dagger by engraving his name on its blade, forcing Chernabog to be under the control of whatever person possesses it. Celestina uses the dagger to banish Chernabog to Bald Mountain, where his darkness cannot harm anyone. Chernabog spends decades magically corrupting his soul to allow him to live on after the death of his physical body by inhabiting the spirit of whomever kills him with the dagger. Chernabog confronts his sister in a battle for the possession of the dagger and just when he gets the upperhand, one of Celestina’s followers, a fairy named Mab, manages to steal the dagger from Chernabog and kill him with it, unaware of his wicked plan. As the life leaves Chernabog, his cursed spirit - a hulking winged monster with massive horns - rips itself from his body and passes into Mab. Chernabog’s name fades away from the dagger and is replaced with hers. Before he dies, however, Chenabog uses the last of his magic to banish his sister to the evening star, only able to return when someone calls upon her.

season 7, episode 3 : Trapped Inside

present : At Castle Misthaven, Henry partners with Evelyn to try to return Archie to his human form again. Mary Margaret reminds Henry that true love’s kiss can break any spell, so Henry decides to find Archie’s true love. When a young-again Peter Pan shows his face at Henry’s window, Henry convinces him to give the little cricket a kiss – and it works. Matthew is restored to his adult age and Archie is returned to his human form, and they are reunited.  Evelyn mentions being trapped by her own curse, tied to the evening star, Henry decides to set it sights on helping next, but is sidetracked when he finds that Regina has fallen into a depression, feeling trapped in her own way. Meanwhile, Chernabog reveals to his fellow former Servants that he wishes to exact his revenge on his sister, Evelyn, by freeing himself from Bald Mountain taking over as supreme ruler of the Land of Ever, and Gold conspires to use Chernabog’s specific powers to his advantage.

past :   Shortly after casting the Dark Curse and arriving in Storybrooke, Regina is strongly reconsidering her actions. She tries to talk to Mr. Gold about the Dark Curse, believing that he knows the truth, but he seems to think she is a lunatic – and the next day he has no recollection whatsoever of their conversation. Upon rereading the scroll that contains the Curse’s instructions, Regina learns that a Savior was written into the language and realizes now that this was why Gold had demanded her firstborn child as payment for their deal so many years ago. Wondering if the potion of infertility she took back then still holds in the Land Without Magic, Regina pays a visit to Dr. Matthew Llewelyn and learns that she is still unable to give birth here. Regina resigns herself to finding joy in this new life, trapped in this small town, by continuing to torment her former enemies: she cuts funding to Dr. Hopper’s psychiatry practice, causing him to lose clients; she has an affair with Dr. Llewelyn, sparking a divorce from his wife, Sylvia; and she has the library shut down and locked up, forcing Mary Margaret to find a new job as a schoolteacher.

season 7, episode 8 : By the Book

present : Mary Margaret gives Archie and Matthew places as the Royal Physicians of the Mind and Body at Castle Misthaven. Henry visits Agrabah for help finding Regina's happy ending, and there Scheherazade reveals to him a second book she wrote, this one entitled “Happily Ever After.” Henry flips through the pages and recognizes the tales within: The Frog Prince, The Snow Queen, Puss in Boots, The Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina, The Swan Maiden, Rapunzel, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, and many more. Scheherazade reveals that these are tales that were prophecized by Marjanah, tales from the Land of Ever that have yet to come. He searches through the book to find the ending to Regina's tale but Scheherazade will not allow him to take the new book with him – knowing too much of the future, she says, prevents anyone from living a full life. Meanwhile, at Castle Edgeshore, Maleficent reveals her plan of revenge: she's going to place Regina under her own Sleeping Curse. Before Maleficent can place the curse, however, Gold appears within the reflection of a mirror to offer both women the opportunity to join Chernabog's forces. Maleficent accepts; Regina declines. Maleficent pricks Regina with the needle impregnated with the Sleeping Curse, leaves her behind, and flies to Bald Mountain, where she takes her place among Chernabog's ranks.

past :   Regina's son Henry has grown into a clever but lonely nine-year-old. Regina grows more and more nervous every day that he will begin to notice how peculiar Storybrooke is but each day passes and Henry never says anything. This lasts until one day, when Henry finally asks about his father. Regina has no other choice but to explain that Henry was adopted and insist that she loves him as her own son and always has. When Henry's school teacher, Mary Margaret, notices that Henry seems out of sorts over the next few days, she breaks into the town's closed library and brings him a storybook of fairy tales in order to cheer him up – Mary Margaret has no idea that she has just given Henry the key to unlocking the town's secrets, and as he delves into the world of his book, Henry begins to put the pieces together.

season 6, episode 9 : Scheherazade’s Story

past : Following Jafar's wish that prevents her from using the genie's wishes, Scheherazade awakens within Marjanah's lamp. Marjanah sorrowfully informs her that in order to grant Jafar's wish, she was faced with three choices: death, turning Scheherazade into a genie herself, or trapping her within the lamp where Marjanah is powerless and unable to grant any wishes. Not able to kill her and wishing to spare Scheherazade the lonely lifetime Marjanah has faced as a genie, she chose the third option. To occupy her time, Scheherazade begins to write. First she writes her own story, then she rewrites it from Jafar's perspective, then she begins to write the stories of people she has met: Ali Baba, Sinbad, Aladdin, the Sultan... eventually Marjanah gives her a magic mirror that allows her to watch the people from other magical realms, both past and present, so she can transcribe their stories. Scheherazade watches as Peter Pan kills Captain Hook, Phillip awakens Aurora, King Arthur discovers Guinevere and Lancelot's deceit, Red turns into a wolf, Snow White and Prince Charming meet for the first time... And then she finds Regina, and as she writes her story and learns that the Dark Curse will rob everyone of their memories, she realizes exactly how important her chronicles will become. Scheherazade and Marjanah do everything they can to defend Scheherazade's stories from the coming Curse, protecting them by binding them within a single book, and ultimately realize that this means trapping themselves in the lamp until it can be broken.

present : Feeling that something is amiss, Henry turns to his storybook for further information about Sydney and finally connects the dots to realize he was Jafar before he became Regina's magic mirror. Ruby and Cynthia are left behind to guard Mr. Gold while Emma and Regina hunt for Sydney, leading them to Gold's shop, where the door is standing open, the shelves ransacked. Regina finds the third lamp and rubs the side on a whim, and two women appear from within the lamp. Marjanah and Scheherazade reveal that they have been watching everything from their own magic mirror, and Scheherazade begs Regina to use her wish to take them to her brother. Regina obliges, and the four women are transported to the dock. They arrive just in time to see Sydney summon the Servant, releasing Gold from his cell as he arrives to the dock. Scheherazade calls out to her brother, distracting him just long enough for Gold to seize the Servant's dagger, stab Sydney, and disappear. Regina acts quickly by using her second wish from Marjanah to heal Sydney's wound. Sydney and Scheherazade are reunited, and Sydney forgives Regina for her past transgressions.
