"I was trying to kill one queer woman, but accidently killed another. Oops"
DAMN, I`m so frustrated and utterly disappointed. Why the hell the only way for queer women to be alive and somewhat happy is to be on cartoon (Steven Universe and Legend of Korra)?! Is the concept of death more censured than gays for kids and that`s the only way to let us exist? And for adult shows it`s like "They`re all grown-ups, yeah? So let`s make one problem (death) solve the other one (gay)?". What were the creators thinking? Shakespeare`s drama? to give hope and to deprive us of it in its pinnacle? Mission completed.
I`ve started coming out to myself only a year ago and this journey isn`t over, I`m still questioning myself in every aspect possible, and seeing such a beautifully written female ship wrecked right in front of my face is not the message I want to get. I already live in not the most lgbt-freandly country, so TV shows and cartoons with queer women (however small their number is) not only help me to understand what I feel and who I am. They are my beacon, which gives me hope and reassures me: "You`re normal, it`s okay, you can be yourself, you can do everything, you can be whoever you already are and love whoever you want".
And what I see? One of the strongest and most badass woman gets shot, cuz she wanted to say goodbye to her girlfriend?
I would understand if Lexa would have been torn and killed by her own people, then she would have died as a commander and her death would be meaningful. However, ironically, Titus defended the Commander from one of her people. The one he killed was the Lexa, the woman that was in love, the woman that came by to see her lover. It had nothing to do with the politics. I wouldn`t mind this much if Lexa would have been killed by her own, because that would have happened even if she wasn`t in love with a woman or if she was a man, since that would have been just a logical result of her decisions and their conflict with the grounder culture. However. Lexa. Was. Frigging. Shot. By. ACCIDENT. Yeah, shit happens, but why is it so magically drawn to lesbians? Yeah, a coincidence *rolls her eyes* every single time *breaks in tears* in every single show a fcking coincidence.
So no candles for you, Jason.
