At first, Lanfear stayed away from Moiraine for a little while, trying to calm herself around the woman. After their passion-filled night together and the dream they shared, it had been necessary for her to get some distance. But now she had been trying to find Moiraine for at least a week. Typically, it was easy to find her in Tel'aran'rhiod. She had done it often enough before, but it seemed the other had been staying away from her as well. Very curious. She knew she had been into Rhuidean, into the rings; could that have anything to do with it?
Finally, she had found her dream. As she appeared a little bit away, she had expected Moiraine to come to her, to move towards her, like they did so often. But she stayed away, her mind reeling as she looked at the other, trying to read her. She acted differently. Lanfear decided she didn't like it at all. The brunette seemed scared of her; the chosen liked people to be scared of her, but for some reason, she did not like this look on Moiraine at all. Instead of trying to read her more, she decided to just mention it and ask her about it. "You were hiding from me." She stayed quiet for a moment, but got no reply back, so instead she said, "You're afraid of me now. What did you see in Rhuidean?"
It lacked her normal bite; if anyone looked close enough, they could even see the tiniest glimmers of hurt. Instead of showing it, she felt anger brewing in her belly. What had happened that had made the other woman seem so scared of her? Didn't she realise that as long as they were civil, as long as Moiraine didn't work directly against her, that she would not lash out? Or, well, she wouldn't have, but seeing this did make her want to lash out.
