Under the motto of "be the change you want to see in the world" when it comes to rare-ships, I commissioned the lovely, talented @love-is-a-pearl for some doodles of my beloved Train Family. The instant hit of serotonin I got seeing art of Emmet & Concordia together, and of Janjan with his dad, made my day (and let's be real, my week). I love this family to pieces, and Janus is my special little guy who becomes the center of attention of any story he's in (and we love him for it even if he's annoying)!! He is his dad's specialist junior conductor!! Emmet & Cordy love each other so much!!!!!

Day 6: Emmet/Concordia’s twins, Zenith (left - she/her) and Polaris (right - they/them)!

A formidable double battle tag team, Zenith and Polaris can often be found helping out their family on the Battle Subway in Nimbasa City. Just like their parents with their respective siblings, they’ve been inseparable since birth, to the point where they frequently speak in unison and finish each other’s sentences. They both have Kecleon on their teams - Zenith’s is a shiny, while Polaris has one with regular colours. Since starting their Pokémon journeys, they’ve found their paths beginning to diverge (Zenith is mostly interested in science and engineering, while Polaris has been researching the history and geography of the Unova region), but in spite of that they’ll always be a two-car train :)

Day 7: Zephyr (Emmet/Concordia’s son) & Persi!

Zephyr is still too young to be a trainer but he takes his assistant duties at the Battle Subway very seriously. Probably a little bit too seriously. He's the exact opposite of his older brother in that he's a stickler for rules and regulations, and deviating from his plans is quite nervewracking for him. His Zorua, Persi, used to be Janus's partner, but after Janus got eeby deebied to Hisui went missing, Zephyr ended up forming a bond with the little fox, hoping to keep his spirits up and also out of trouble. Now with both his uncle and brother gone, Zephyr is doing his best to help out his parents and extended family/friends with keeping the Battle Subway running at full capacity! Everything needs to be in top form for when Ingo and Janus come back, after all!

I saw a cool train at the science museum while on vacation and apparently that was inspiration enough for me to give Janus a little brother😅

So! Meet Zephyr! He’s about 10 years younger than his brother, and is also 10 when Janus goes missing on his search for Ingo. While he’s the opposite of Janus in many ways, people still claim that despite the large age gap the two brothers have “twin energy”. As a child, Zephyr often followed Janus around everywhere, copying him and finishing his sentences for him (albeit with his trademark stoicism). After his uncle and brother are gone and he grows into his teen years in their shadow, however, Zephyr begins to focus more on surpassing them, aiming to set new records both in the Battle Subway and for Unova railways in general, spearheading a project to bring long-distance inter-regional rail up to his exacting standards.

Janus has new profile art!

First is a redraw of his original/default/Unovan design, how he looks from the beginning of his journey up through the Hisui Arc. He’s depicted at around 16/17 for this art.

Second is an entirely new art depicting his Hisuian Form! This is how he looks after being taken in by the Gingko Guild when he becomes a Faller in Hisui in search of his uncle later on in the story. He’s around 20/21 for this art.

Janus is the son of Concordia & Emmet (and also Ingo as a third parental figure) and is one of the two protagonists of L&L’s Legends Arceus plotline, which takes place during the fankid era. That said, please note there will be some spoilers for the game in his profile! I hope to get his co-protag Tanith’s profile out soon as well. Enjoy!

Concept art for Janus, Emmet/Concordia’s son. I’m not sure how involved he is with the actual Battle Subway, since he has a tendency to... break... the trains when put in charge of things, but he loves his dad’s uniform so his mum made him a version in grey to wear around. He gets mistaken as a conductor a lot as a result, but he couldn’t care less as long as he looks good.

Janus travels with Tristan (Hugh/Nate) and Myka (Caitlin/Marlon) and is their guide of sorts to all of the weirder parts of Unova. He usually tries to sidetrack the group with detours to various haunted and generally Cursed locations - a walking Atlas Obscura! He just seems to have a knack for navigating strange places and dealing with strange people - no matter how dire a situation may seem, Janus always manages to find a way around it, be it sweettalking, bargaining, or just plain running away. A useful guide indeed!
