Please join the hundreds of swimmers, friends and paddlers from across the United States who consider Provincetown, MA their spiritual home, and return to participate in the 33rd annual Swim for Life & Paddler Flotilla. This fundraiser supports vital year round services for AIDS, women's health and the community. Come share with us the special relationships we have established and the community we have created through the healing waters of Provincetown Harbor. Please see www.swim4life.org for details. The Provincetown Swim for Life & Paddler Flotilla is sponsored by the Provincetown Community Compact, celebrating 28 years of nurturing community.
Listen: the first year I wanted to do this swim (last year), it was rerouted (after THIRTY ONE YEARS) due to SHARKS, and THEN, it had to be relocated due to A HURRICANE, and THIS YEAR, it’s being completely disrupted due to a worldwide pandemic. While busily reminding myself that I am not actually a curse, I’d like to remind others that, like most charitable organizations and, indeed, like most people - these folks are really struggling. They do so much good work on the outer Cape - especially necessary this year, with the tourist economy decimated. Please donate if you can, share widely if you can’t, and yes, I will provide proof of life swim if you need to be convinced that I can and will swim a mile and a half to support causes I care about.
Human interventions in nature, from military bases to quarries and water towers. Outer cape, July-November 2018
