Since we time travel a lot in this series: what is your favorite Outlander “era”?
Hello darling!!
OOOH—this is tough. I did enjoy Paris…
However, for me, I will always love 1700′s Scotland. Scotland almost acts as a character in and of itself in the show.
The sweeping landscapes, the green earth, the rich soil, the misty rain—it all adds to the grit and majesty of the story so beautifully.
My family heritage and lineage is also almost exclusively Scottish so that makes it a special treat for me as well. Although, as a North Carolina gal myself, I am particularly excited to see Fraser’s Ridge take place (even if it is being filmed in Scotland hehe)
February 4—What is your all time favorite thing about Outlander?
The timeless love of James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser & Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp Randall Fraser.
They are real. They have flaws. They have trials. They have struggles. But they also have beauty. They have passion. They have resilience.
I watch a lot of film and a lot of television; I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been impacted this much by a love story (Pride and Prejudice being one of them hehe).
I literally got a Tumblr to blog about Outlander because I have been so deeply moved by it.
The love between Jamie and Claire does not come around every day—it is unique.
But their love is not cheap; oh no.
It has caused them suffering.
It has cost them everything.
Jamie and Claire go through deep adversity together, yet they press on. They are crushed, but not destroyed. The adversity acts like a fire: refining and sharpening them into something even more beautiful.
And they come out on the other side hand in hand.
AND
It is a Scottish tale!!!
My family heritage is deeply rooted in Scotland on my maternal and paternal side.
It is a treat to experience Scotland in this capacity for that reason. Likewise, the scenery is legitimately STUNNING.
