i hate being a character driven writer sometimes because writing plot is hard. i legit feel like a caveman slamming two rocks together, in hopes of creating fire
do you have a plan for fics, or do you write it as it goes along?
I always try to have a plan for fics.
But sometimes they are so weak they really don't count and I am hoping the story will write itself.
And other times the comments section says something so groundbreaking (like techno's chat time traveling in bjar), that I will completely change the plan on a regular basis.
Honestly, I'm always pleasantly surprised when things in the og plan are still in the final product.
for those curious about my writing process, what follows is copy/pasted directly from my Hollow People doc (spoilers, by the way):
//…day 20? day 21? adam escaped on day 9
“I did what I did to protect myself,” Blake said, voice shaking even as her eyes hardened. “You were a monster.”
Adam laughed. “A monster?” His laughter broke under a tide of rage and shadows stole over the world. “I’ll show you a monster.”
//they fight and it’s super cool n stuff
my story outlines are exhaustive, lemme tell ya /s
i still don’t know exactly at what point to start the story, bc there’s a lot of backstory and i wanna start in a place where i can avoid the most of exposition possible
that’s why it’s hard to tell sometimes what is and what isn’t a spoiler, bc i’m not sure what will be revealed first
current mental noise: i have never written anything good or original, ever, in my life,
Outlining is hard.
tumblr life; like a week now
Thanks to the little sister putting me on the spot, my WIP/series now has a working title: “The Codependency Chronicles”.
