putting on my yaoi goggles #sorry. so frank is going on the golden bachelor because he's ready for love again (making the gang realise how dire their love lives are; they're all in their late 40s with no romance, no kids—this is extra exemplified with the realisation that tammy and trey now have Teenagers!!! time is passing!!!!). dennis like usual was feeling nothing after banging that girl. mac like usual doesn't know what [trope] he wants. (plus in the last episode, his confession to over indulging so he's alienated from his actual desires). then ALSO mac freely admitting to feeling aroused by dennis's pheromone shit spray. and like we KNOW that they're bringing up the fact that mac and dennis are still roommates and it's kinda weird next episode. guys ..... guyssssssss. manifesting an actual conversation about where they are at in their lives. PLEASE.

I find it interesting how Overage Drinking seems to imply that Dennis' pheromone serum smells like shit to human women and like piss to men. Because Mac instantly thinks of Dennis when he smells Charlie and Frank's old piss cans, suggesting that's what Dennis smelled like to him before going to Tammy and Trey's house.

This makes sense with Dennis' claim that the serum intimidates males, because piss is often associated with domination in the animal world (e.g., dogs using it to mark their territories).

Also, this isn't the first time Sunny draws a connection between piss and domination. The Gang Texts immediately comes to mind in this regard.

In that episode, Charlie Dennis and Frank all piss on Mac in different instances, simulating meerkat behavior and establishing Mac as the weakest link among them. ("If they find the weak one, they start pissing all over it.") Overage Drinking makes a callback to this dynamic by having Charlie point out that what Mac is smelling is actually his and Frank's piss, despite him thinking of Dennis in that moment.

So, we know that piss = domination and/or intimidation in the show. Then, how does Mac's arousal come into play here? One could say it's Dennis' serum working its magic through the power of omegaverse pheromones, but there might be another explanation.

Despite all the guys pissing on Mac during The Gang Texts, the scene of him and Dennis in the zoo bathroom is the only one with an obvious sexual connotation.

This is logical considering Mac's overt attraction to him and their dynamic, but looking at the two episodes together, we get a very clear link between Dennis, piss, domination, and arousal.

The implication here is that all these things are connected in Mac's mind, meaning he isn't really attracted to the pheromone serum in Overage Drinking — he's intimidated and aroused by the smell of piss because it equates to domination and he's associating it with Dennis, who doused himself with that smell before leaving home that day.
