If anyone had stopped to ask, James Potter would have said that he had never been so lucky in his entire life.

Granted, if you asked any of James’s friends or classmates they would have said that lucky was the right word for it, and they would all be right.

James was just particularly aware of how lucky he was that Lily Evans was finally giving him the chance to love her. Which he did. Love her, that is.

Maybe three weeks of dating was too soon to say it (and he hadn’t said it to her yet, thank Merlin), but he definitely felt it. Whatever it was that brought the two of them together, James was certain that it was meant to keep them together. There was something momentous about the way he loved her; something life changing. If he had been any good at Divination, he might even say that the fate of the world depended on their love.

The fate of his world certainly did.
