Why nobody talk about this cover? I mean, this cover says a lot about the heroes society: 

So scary, right?

Well, ignoring the fact that All Might looks scary, the true problem here is the slogan: ’This man is Justice itself’ tells us something much more scary. 

All Might -the hero number one, the idol of the little kids, the strongest and brave hero- is the symbol of justice, that is, he possesses in himself all the qualities of the just, of the good and the desired by the community. All might represent Justice, but Justice always has a sword in his hand: The sword is a metaphor to refer to violence.

All Might to be Justice is also Violence. But not any violence, but a legal/juridical violence: He can exercise violence on a body that qualifies as a threat to the community (a villain) and he could take the life of a villain in an extreme needed case but that action will not be a homicide, it will be a distribution of justice.

A justice patented by the State.

Curiously, you can not be a hero if you don’t have a license, you can not use your quirk without the authorization of a government agent, and if you use your quirk without a permit, you will be punished (from the most insignificant as a sermon by the police to be the target of the blows that the hero throws). The social structure moves under the parameters imposed by the state that authorizes the use of quirks against enemies (who are may be citizens, teens, mentally unstable people, oppressed people, misunderstood people, etc.). Those who are classified as villains (have the reasons they have) must be stopped.

This makes sense when we see Jin (Twice) and his complex monologue from chapter 115:

Spirit of fight, goodwill, power, goodwill and more power. Those who oppose a normal life don’t deserve a normal end. Those who break the law or the public order must be arrested by the police and prosecuted by a judge, those people deserves a lawyer to protect their rights as anyone. 

But the heroes have other permits: With their amazing powers they must beat until they are exhausted in order to defeat those who qualify as villains and those who qualify as villains will be deprived of their freedom indefinitely or they will be killed by violent justice. Leaving behind all the criminal procedure, the heroes with their powers can exercise a role of judges. Thus, the heroes are like policemen with the permission to shoot or hit when they, the representatives of justice, believe it necessary, it doesn’t matter if the target is killed to stop it, the important thing is to prove who commands here. 

(I felt so bad for him when he fall unconscious and very hurt, because he was reduced to a body, not a person or citizen, only an object). Even if Deku is the good one, this excese of legal violence is very scary... 

So, the villains stop being citizens and possessors of rights, they are a threat to the social fabric and just for that they are a mere sacrificial life: A body that is in turn a container of violence imparted by the Justice itself. Everything that goes out of the ordinary must be regularized in the order of the State, either by convetional means or by an exercise of extreme violence.

What is violence? Violence is a force imprinted on a body, an object.

It’s natural that the “villains” are going to resist to that power, and fight back against the heroes society.

After all they are humans, y’know?

So, what heroes do is right? To preserve peace, the security of the nation and, most important, the rule of law, maybe. I just hope that Kohei will explore more the villains side, I have faith in characters like Jin and Chisaki or in new characters that don’t belong to either side.
