This is, admittedly, a WEIRD one. It took me a WHILE to work out, as I wanted to make sure that no panels look like any specific example of any artist's work. In the end, I still ended up LIKING the first two simplified styles. lol

It’s so exhausting to me how many posts around these parts boil down to, “this complex sociological phenomena isn’t caused by thing X like all you fools think, it’s actually caused by thing Y!!!!! Thing Y is very important!!!!!

Because the truth, like 90% of the time is “yes, thing Y very much IS important but the situation is actually due to thing X, Y, Z, A, B, C and likely 34 secret things we’re not even aware of yet.”

Sometimes I get so…….I don’t know the right word even, I’ll go with…….frustrated by how much people push things to fit overly simplistic, false dichotomies because it’s easier to pretend things have easily identifiable causes. But TRULY humanity is complex as hell and either/ors are in short supply and both/ands are e v e r y w h e r e.

While everyone is busy simplifying their logos, estonia is busy making everything orange.

The Tartu (Estonias second largest town) logo:

The new one has nothing to do with tartu. There are none of our iconic buildings referenced, not even the river that flows through it. Everything starts making a little more sense once you realize a person from Tallinn designed it.

On the topic of Tartu, Tartu smart bike logo:

I don't use it much, so I don’t really care, but the old one looked at least a bit more interesting. Now it's just a capital T.

What they did do my girl Anneke is unforgivable. It simply looks ugly. Why orange? It's the hardest colour to pull off.

This isn't even the worst change (because how little orange it has) but it's still so ugly because orange and brown DO NOT go together.

I know it's reductive to think of politics as a dichotomy between good guys and bad guys, but at this point it's safe to say that the Republicans are very clearly the bad guys. It's not even a contest. History will remember them the way we remember the Democrats in the 19th century (slavers who would rather split the country apart than move forward), or any number of the despotic regimes of the 20th century. Change will happen. Progress will march on as long as people keep fighting for it. Nothing lasts forever. We will win this.
