Salty much? 🤔
Friend toxcity in Overwatch
So recently, I’ve been noticing this a bit with *some* of the people I routinely play Overwatch with.
Some of these friends (for some reason) always make a point...Well, to point out that I almost exclusively play Mercy, almost every game. Whenever I always manage to pick her before anyone else, they always have the need to point out that I have low to no skill because I’m always first to pick her, and not anyone else.
On top of that, they like picking on me by forcing me to switch off, pick a hero they know for a fact I can’t play well, and make fun of me for being crap, and then complaining that they keep dying and no one is healing (I’m usually the only healer whenever I play with these friends) and then they tell me to switch back to my favorite and main hero, Mercy.
During any sort of match, they always make it a point to tell me how low-skill Mercy is, and how **amazing** and **pro** they are, as well as sometimes bugging me whenever I’m playing with other friends to the point of me wanting to yell at them for distracting me during the match I’m currently in.
Honestly, I’m highly considering unfriending them all, but every time I go to do it, I feel really bad and don’t do it because these few friends that act like this are young, and I don’t want to hurt them- after all, i know for a fact that not a lot of the older players treat them well, so I know they were happy to find that me, an older player, was willing to put up with them, and be their main healer.
What do you think I should do?
PS. A special thanks to @it-was-me-dia for teaming up with me for more than a few games! It’s been tons of fun playing with you, and I hope we can continue to play together!
Now I remember why I don't play comp on OW. I was called toxic for getting irritated when people told the other team to report me and claimed I wasn't doing anything for the team because I was Sombra, despite having 53 hacks by the end of the game and being an asset to most of our pushes. It just was actually terrible having almost all of my team ganging up on me. Swearing I was the toxic one for getting upset. I never said anyone else was useless. I never tried to claim to be better than anyone else. I just tried to tell them that I was doing my job and I did it well. It's all because an Ana kept getting killed by a Tracer. A Tracer I repeatedly hacked.
And guess what?? We fucking won and I had a whole fucking card that showed my work. I could barely even focus on the game. It was hard to play.
Toxic Players beware! A suspension wave is in progress, + news on changes to reporting! News + quick channel update!
Pretty much everything I see on Overwatch team chat is all the toxic stuff, so let’s take a moment to appreciate the team chats who encourage each other and are all around friendly.
I saw a vid in my recommended a few days ago or so called “Way less toxicity. Overwatch getting better?” I didn’t even click it. It’s... A blunt lie
honestly fucking hate the toxicity in overwatch.
so i was in this comp match, right? and the team is awful. i didn’t SAY that, but they were. they were awful. and the enemy team was good - they were organized and they had some awesome dps that were wrecking us. so i cycle through a couple of heroes to try and see what i can be doing better, and end up on widow. we don’t cap the first point and someone immediately talks about how we’re basically ai with how easily the enemy defended against us. someone else got really salty about that and began to curse at us and basically attack us.
next round begins. we’re on defense. i pick widowmaker because i think i can get some picks as her.
i’m IMMEDIATELY accused of throwing, told to “shut the fuck up” repeatedly when i try to defend myself, etc etc the usual bullshit, and then when the match is over and we’ve lost, this person adds me as a friend and continues to attack me about what i’ve supposedly done. i told them at the end of the match that i would be reporting them for abusive chat and mentioned that i hope they get banned, and they tell me that they’re gonna get me banned for throwing and admitting to it in chat.
i? defended myself? AGAINST THROWING? so there they are, chewing me out and telling me “how wrong” i am, telling me i’m changing my story etc etc when THEY never read anything i said right in the FIRST place. like, the only reason i’m “changing” my story to them is because THEY’RE NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT I’M TYPING IN THE FIRST PLACE. it was fucking awful. i’ve never had a person be so ridiculously bull-headed to me before. it was all there in chat - they could have scrolled up and LOOKED. i never ONCE said i was throwing. i never ONCE insulted our team.
yet I’M the one that’s supposedly going to get banned. lol. i ended up deleting, blocking, and reporting them again. i really hope they get banned because that was an awful, awful experience and i wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
