heart to heart // tahir+ovi
For Ovi and him, another date on a beautiful Saturday was not very unusual. And even while on the date, Tahir could wholly summarize his pure intentions with the fact that he’d missed his boyfriend this week.
When an occurrence as rare as both of their schedules not lining up for the weekend happens, Tahir’s levelheadedness and resourcefulness is charged into higher gears. He remembers that conversation, offering up a weekday outside of their usual date and time, especially considering he offered to work from home the following day. And Ovi didn’t exactly say no, but it did sound like he would be kept too busy to be able to fit him in at all. So it was much to his surprise once he really thought about what Asha said to him, about Ovi’s inevitable plans that night. It’s something that’d been haunting him like the buzz of a nearby mayfly.
It’d been so early into their relationship. Tahir was hoping there weren’t already issues he wasn’t in the know about, as communication was always something big for him. It was a characteristic that many of his previous partners lacked, even though he specifically yearned for that open honesty. He practically relied on it. And Tahir knew Ovi missed him just as much, or at least that’s what he said countlessly. Tahir could have easily come over and stayed the night if he knew Ovi had time free for him. If Ovi only said the word, he would’ve been there within his next heartbeat.
Something about this situation just didn’t feel right. It’d been in the back of his mind for the last few days and Tahir wasn’t someone to not directly address how he felt. And now that they were back in each other’s presence, it was a better time than ever to lay it all out. After he’d made dinner for the two of them at his apartment in Paris, Tahir sat on his sofa, cradling Ovi close in his embrace. They’d been talking back and forth casually for half an hour, and in a lull of the conversation, after a few minutes of them feeling the rise and fall of each other’s breath, he asked, “Ovi, can I tell you something?”
Tahir adjusted his cuddle around Ovi closer, gently tightening his hold after he had the cue from Ovi to go and speak his mind. He let his head gently rest against Ovi’s and he spoke sincerely from his heart. “Asha told me she stopped by to see you on Tuesday, that you were calling the night early...” He took a deep breath in, interlocking his and his boyfriend’s fingers, within both of his hand holds. His thumb gently caressing the side of Ovi’s index finger. “Why didn’t you tell me your night had opened up?” Tahir didn’t specify anymore, understanding that it was clear what he was trying to check in with Ovi. He closed the arms around him, hugging Ovi just then. “You can be honest with me. I just want to know if there’s something wrong.”
