...Language is so important. You gotta be specific. If someone's like, 'N-word,' I'm like, 'Necrophiliac? Neighbor? Nanny?! NORWEGIAN.'
Owen Benjamin on why language matters
Comedy Is Dead
How did it die?
Comedy used to be alive and well until about five minutes ago when mainstream Hollywood decided to forget about being funny and focus on “real issues” by sending its comedians on stage to preach in humorless and ill-informed political rants. Some of comedy’s most familiar names have joined forces in the fight to push Americans into a giant game of follow the leader. Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel and Steven Colbert are just a few of the many who have decided to try to fix their audience. Instead of doing what they’re paid to do, comedians are now lecturing about issues like political correctness and diversity.
Barring the left’s superficial definition of diversity, which focuses on qualities like skin color, there does seem to be an actual lack of diversity among comedy’s elites. That is, diversity of thought. Actor Owen Benjamin perfectly summed up this truth when he tweeted a photograph of ten famous comedians, including the names mentioned above, along with Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, stating:
Every [sic] person in this photo: — Same political party — Endorsed same candidate — Same stance on every issue Ladies and gentlemen, “comedy.”
Trevor Noah, possibly the most humorless man in America, is a career political hack who makes a living by mocking conservative media figures and literally comparing America to the Third Reich. Steven Colbert uses the same routine, just with more profanity.
Jimmy Kimmel has recently turned his show into a series of emotional rants, during which he has also used his young daughter as a political pawn. After the Las Vegas shooting, he told Americans who support the Second Amendment that their thoughts and prayers for victims of gun violence were insufficient.
Jimmy Fallon, who tried briefly to distance himself from the political arena, was forced to apologize to an angry mob of social justice warriors after he jokingly ruffled the president’s hair in an interview instead of giving him a verbal beating.
As has happened with the NFL and ESPN, comedy is beginning to turn from a pastime uniting Americans into a political propaganda machine, through which leftist elites pump out their self-righteous rhetoric and tell Americans they are bad people who can only hope their God doesn’t strike them down. Comedy is dead. And it didn’t just die; it was murdered.
