I finally made a DuckTales oc! His name is Owlbert Blinky, but most people call him Blinky. I was inspired to make this little guy from a variety of things.
1) My brother. You’ll find out why in a second. 2) @donaldtheduckdad! I read her ask about her top favorite owls (I had no idea you liked owls!) and the second was a Saw Whet Owl. It was so freaking cute, I had to draw one. 3) @heythatsdeep Just because I loved Sawyer so much. Ever since I learned about her I’ve been trying to come up with my own oc. She’s inspiring!
This part is kind of short (comparatively) since I’ve only made him recently.
-Autistic
-Loves mosters, mythical creatures, and drawing such things
-He doesn’t talk to most people. Every now and then he’ll hear someone say something about monsters and will make a small comment, but not directly to those people, and when spoken to directly he’ll only give a nod, head shake, or a thumbs up. The only person he makes conversation with is Dewey. Dewey is the only person who has ever made him feel safe and wanted beyond his own family.
-Loud noises, large crowds, and quick change send him into melt downs.
-He stems by rocking when he sits. If he’s not sitting he has a tendency to say HOO in different ways based on how he’s feeling.
-He also has a hard time understanding his volume level so his whispers are stage whispers and when he gets excited he speaks much louder than other people.
I said he was inspired by my brother. Actually based off of my brother. Like my brother, Blinky has high functioning autism (as I said before). Because of this people don’t tend to understand him. However, how they react to him can go either way. He has a large group of people at his school who love him because of the strange things his says and his odd behavior. Then there are the people who don’t like him and pick on him. It’s in this way that he’s connected to the Duck family.
One day, Dewey saw a group of kids picking on Blinky, so he stepped in and defended him. This made Blinky feel safe. Afterward, Dewey would see Blinky in the hall and would wave or say hi. At first, Dewey only got a nod or a wave back, but soon Blinky would approach him and say hi. This got Dewey really excited because that’s never happened to anyone before. After a while Blinky would bring him drawings he did of monsters and creatures. Dewey found them interesting and even recognized a few from his trips with Scrooge and would tell Blinky about his adventures with those creatures. This helped build their relationship, and now everyone knows that if they want to ask Blinky anything, it has to be through Dewey. Even the teachers can’t get through to him like Dewey can.
