Orisa is a good character to use when your game is lagging a lot.
Reasons:
Barrier + Forgiving fire rate/large magazine + Halt + high health and armor pool
Can use the “pirateship” strategy of standing on the payload with a barrier around you
Can use barrier while firing
Barrier is stationary and will not lag along with your character
Orisa’s ultimate does not rely on the player’s actions and will work no matter what (as long as it is not destroyed)
Tip: As Orisa, you are the anchor of the team, stay in a safe spot and aid your team with barriers
Use halt while pre-firing at where enemies will land
Note: I was playing without lag before this game and did not intentionally go into a match without knowledge of how lag would be in this game. Please always check your ping and play before entering a competitive game.
Disclaimer: This does not mean that Orisa is a low skill hero, in order to play Orisa with lag, one must know her kit, know where to place her, and know the timing of enemies and character movement.
What is a Tempo Rez?
A Tempo Resurrect(Rez) is when you Rez a player to keep the team fight in your favor. Here are some examples of how to use it and when to use it.
Note: these notes apply to a team fight where your team engages at once after grouping together either at spawn or at the objective
Pretend your team is in yellow, while the enemy team is in red. The two teams are using the same characters and playing moderately well for your skill level.
Scenario 1: A DPS character dies, leaving a 5 vs 6 match. Do not resurrect them because you only make the match a 6 vs 6, where your team has no advantage.
Scenario 2: Your DPS dies at the same time as the enemy DPS. Resurrect them into a 6 vs 5 match and have a numbers advantage. This scenario also applies to:
Scenario 3: Since resurrect is on a 30 second timer, rez your DPS to ensure an easy team wipe.
Scenario 4: You won this team fight, save your rez.
Scenario 5: Your main tank just died, tell your team to regroup instead of rezing into a 6 vs 6 battle.
Scenario 6: Definitely resurrect. Your team will have advantage behind a barrier.
Scenario 7: The secondary support dies. This is a situational call since rez is now an ability an not an ultimate. Assess the situation and make your own conclusion.
EXCEPTION TO SCENARIO 1:
If your DPS has a high impact ultimate and the enemy team does not have sound barrier/transcendence, resurrect them in order to wipe the enemy team

Quick Tricks for Starting Season 6
1. Duo-queue with a tank or healing main. Tank mains were hard to find in season 5 and will probably still be hard to find in season 6. Note: Triple or quadru-queue(?) lead to you being placed against higher ranked players.
2. Practice before starting competitive. Go to practice range, set up Ana bots, or just play deathmatch. Hone your aiming and tracking to the point that you feel completely comfortable with your character. (this includes Mercy, Winston, and Symmetra)
3. Choose your character pool. (don't just flex) Find characters that you are comfortable playing and work on mastering their kits. Find how to’s or watch streams of a higher ranked player. Want to start playing a new character? Do it!
4. Take breaks. Feeling a bit angry after a match? Take a break. Don't throw your matches and listen to your body.
5. Join team chat. And be nice in team chat. Start banter during hero select and initial setup. Have everyone put their spray on the door.
6. IF comfortable, make yourself the shot caller. Devise a general plan for your team(take high ground/push left or right). Call targets for your team to focus on (get that Mercy darnit), and callout if a team member needs help (low health).
7. Be nice to your healers. This sounds like a joke, but healer can make or break a team. No one wants Mercy to throw.
