I’m back on Cape Cod for a few days and there’s part of me that always feels like I’m coming home when I come out here. I had a great aunt who lived here when I was young and we visited her a lot. Often dad would rend a camping spot for a few bucks and we’d bike into Provincetown for the day before crashing in the tent. My childhood memories are sandy with a touch of something tempting and illicit.
And then, in college, I spent a summer working my ass off at a store in town and then staying up way too late before doing it all over again. It was a wonderful three months of exploration, learning to sail, hot gay sex, failed flirtations, complicated relationships, and those sweet glorious hot afternoons working in the hammock shop on the bay.
So here we are again until Sunday and I’m finally slowing down and starting to remember how to think.
And on Saturday, we eat oysters!
LIVE: Garlic Parmesan Oyster! Oyster God, here I come!
The garlic parmesan oysters were the highlight but a bit pricey. Parmesan truffle fries were as good as it sounds but 3 people can eat it and it would be worth it for a $10 fries. The oyster bucket was $16. Don't think I've ever had that much oysters in my life. It was a real task to open them oysters but we definitely had a great time. And the warm Southern sun made a perfect day for a February festival. The Steamhouse Lounge 1051 West Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309 (404) 233-7980 https://goo.gl/maps/BkSaaWPD5HA2

Tomorrow marks The Ordinary's 10-year anniversary. Nearly a decade ago, Chef Mike Lata and Adam Nemirow took a leap of faith and landed at the intersection of Cannon and King Streets, bringing new life to an abandoned bank that's now our home where we pay tribute to the bounty of Charleston's waterways. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What has made this place so special over the past 10 years? The people. From our hard-working team members to the farmers, fishermen and purveyors we work with to the guests who enter our doors each night, we wouldn't be here without you.
