The Lightning Benders
Lightning is a pure form of firebending, without aggression. It is not fueled by rage or emotion the way other firebending is. Some call lightning the cold-blooded fire. It is precise and deadly, like Azula. To perform the technique requires peace of mind.
∟ 4/10 favorite scenes from ATLA/LOK — Azula & Ozai’s final scene, Sozin’s Comet
Underrated Scene ✭ Azula loses her cool, and shows us/and her Father an uncharacteristically vulnerable side of herself. Such a unique interaction between Ozai and Azula that we did not see until this point. “You can’t treat me like Zuko” hints at Ozai’s cold and distant style of parenting. Being that Azula has always been loyal to her Father, and has gone above and beyond his expectations with the status of ‘firebending prodigy’, it’s clear Azula has always taken to the role of “the favorite child” with Ozai, just as Zuko with Ursa. She has no one at this point, and even though she’s appointed “Fire Lord” in this scene, it’s hard to ignore that this was most likely the last straw for Azula, and why she grows more emotionally unstable throughout the rest of the finale/Sozin’s Comet.
