Aftermath

As much of a smart ass that he was and as many schools as he'd been kicked out of, Luka had mostly been able to avoid the whole punishment aspect that sadly came along with being a submissive. He had always been very adapt of knowing just how far to push things, and if he did happen to go a little to far, he usually could charm his way out of the situation. The handful of punishments that he did end of receiving where somewhat on the mild side, so nothing was able to prepare him for what happened.

The headmaster was obviously a big fan of Squid Games because that's essentially what they went through for 24 hours straight. Each "game" was torturous to compete in, but the punishment for losing was always worst. Plus, once someone was on the losing side of a game, they had to endure the punishment for all the future games losers, so there was a high incentive to win. Luckily, Luka got lucky during the team games and get well enough in the individual games to make it through the second to last game, so he only had to endure two punishments. However, it was the last game that he competed in that caused the most damage as it caused him to get second degree burns on his hands.

Once the games were concluded, Luka got his hands treated and bandaged before dragging himself back to his room. He was smart enough to pack a bag beforehand, so he quickly sent off a text to Wyatt letting him know that the punishment was over. Luka felt bad that he was bugging the Dominant so late, but there was no way he could physically or mentally drive himself to Wyatt's house. He also thought about calling himself a ride, but he knew he just couldn't deal with a stranger. Being in his room with his bed that close was too tempting for him since all he wanted to do was fall into it and sleep, so he slowly made his way to the front gates. With his feet killing him with each step, it took him entirely too long to reach the gate. His body wasn't going to allow him to stand for too long, so he dropped down to the ground in front of one of the pillars so that he could lean up against it as he waited for Wyatt to arrive.

Aftermath || Manny & Kol

It was still hard to accept that Lokie and the faes had lost once more to the vampires, and Manny still found himself trapped in Krovs. After participating in an actual war, the shifter figured he ought to be grateful to have survived at all, which he was. He’d just been hoping he wouldn’t necessarily be a slave any more. But at least he could say he tried his best, right? 

Of course, his decision to align himself with Lokie’s army didn’t come without its consequences. After taking a rather bizarre punishment from the enforcer, Manny stripped himself of the ridiculous “sex kitten” outfit, and headed straight for a shower. Once he was clean, he stepped out of the shower and gracefully fell onto all fours as he shifted into his jaguar form, deciding he just kind of wanted to be a cat for a little bit while he hung around in the suite. 

He hadn’t heard Kol come in the suite while he’d been in the shower. With everything happening so quickly to get repairs and recoveries underway, Manny felt like they’d barely had time to deal with their own situation after the war. Despite his own disappointment over his side’s loss, he was happy to see his master. The jaguar padded over to Kol on the couch, casually placing his head on the other man’s thigh and looking up at him with large green eyes. He purred softly, a hint of a small smile on his lips. Hi. How are you doing after everything?

Aftermath | | Lola + Teddy

It had been a few days since she and Teddy had kissed but they hadn't really talked about it. It wasn't like they were avoiding or ignoring each other; it was more of the unaddressed elephant in the room. She knew that they were going to have to talk about it tonight, particularly as the two of them were having a belated birthday dinner as it was the first night that neither of them were working. They had agreed to order takeout from Lola's favourite Thai restaurant and eat up on the rooftop so that they could watch the stars. She met Teddy on the rooftop and a warm smile graced her face when she saw that he had already spread their dinner on one of the tables. "This looks really lovely. I've been thinking about dinner all day", she admitted as she sat down opposite him.

The castle was quiet, almost terrifyingly so, in the days following the riots. There was something unnatural about it, the way faeries were straying away from the palace gates, like the iron sickness had taken hold and if one set foot near it, then it was only a matter of time before you caught it, too. Harland, himself, wanted to stay away, but it was because he was angry. 

So irrevocably angry. He wanted to storm into Mab’s quarters and demand answers. He wanted to ask her why she had agreed to something so monstrous, when in the peace she had claimed to be seeking for her people she was condemning them even still. The humans of Wisteria were her subjects just as the fae were and for the queen to do such a thing was...it was unforgivable. It did not matter, not now, that Harland Briar had been her diplomat. That he, as her diplomat, had espoused the good they could do with the treaty, duped into believing that the copy he had been handed and poured over, studied and memorized for hours, had been true. 

And, now, here he was. The taste of ash in his mouth and rage in his blood. 

Harland was stalking the halls of the palace, picking through the things that had been strewn into the walkways as faeries had fled home to their manors in the city, the Wildlands, wanting nothing to stain their names. It was when he walked past a particular room that he heard quiet sobs coming from within. Concerned, he knocked on the door, calling out to however was within.

Aftermath || Wren & Darcy

Darcy had seen first hand what could happen to snitches. It was brutal, far worse than anything the Hearts could inflict on one of theirs, and it always ended with a body being disposed of. But she’d be damned if that was going to happen to David. He wasn’t a snitch, he’d been brutalized to the point of near death, and the fact that he hadn’t died was miracle enough. As her boots clicked on the marble floors, different scenarios ran through her mind, every possible way this conversation could go making her that much more nervous. For all she knew, Wren already had his mind made up on what he was going to do.

Swallowing hard as she approached the door, Darcy knocked carefully and hesitated a moment before she opened the door. “Can I come in? If you’re busy, I can come back..”

jinyoung hasn't watched a single episode of next gen. he has however, stumbled across clips on twitter and instagram and the like. nothing crazy, for the most part, just fans squealing over moments from their favorite contestants, demanding a contract for them now! he's seen some of the performances and auditions, though he really stopped paying attention to anything as soon as his sister dropped out of the competition. he still doesn't quite understand why, but he respects her decisions anyway.

it's completely by coincidence that jinyoung learns what became of the studio delta teams in the latest episode. he heard whispers of it in the halls, fellow trainees remarking on what a scary ceo they have. it appeared on jinyoung's timeline not an hour later, the full cut of the rant and particularly the words hurled at ren and dohyun.

his lips press together tightly.

this isn't going to go well.

jinyoung knows it's been a few days since this all happened; it's been a few days since the episode itself aired after all. and yet he can't imagine that this is something that ren or dohyun would so easily brush off. he knows them, he knows they're sensitive in their own ways. he's never been much of a comforting figure, but something tells him he needs to check in, make sure they're okay.

he finds ren first, relieved of his filming responsibilities based on the late hour and the fact that jinyoung is actually able to approach him in a practice room. honestly, he probably would have preferred to talk to dohyun first, to get his mistakes out with someone who would be a little more forgiving, but... well, he owes ren. if this is a way he can start to pay that back, he has no choice but to move forward.

"hey," he calls out, trying not to startle the other man. "you good? can i join you?"

jihae can’t escape faster from the nis main building. lee kiyoung’s speech has been over for some time, a long time, and yet the words still echo inside of his bones almost. the changes and investigational upheaval to be arriving in the coming months has him on edge just thinking about and as much as he wishes he could forget about it, he can’t. some of those changes have already taken place, familiar faces gone and replaced, and while those actions aren’t taken lightly and while it’s been done as subtly as possible, things seem all the more off kilter for it. he feels off for certain and in need of some air and some time to just let everything settle in his head.

the settling can come later, however, because what he really needs is a distraction.

his feet seem to get the memo before the rest of him can catch up, a destination already set and he’s just along for the ride. the path becomes instantly familiar as he follows it, his frazzled mind slowly piecing together more cognitive thought until he realizes where he’s going, a place he’d lived until only a few months ago himself. the dormitories. he knows specifically where he’s going once he’s inside, not headed to his old room but in the opposite direction, down the hallways to a different door.

he’s not surprised that quartermaster has entered his thoughts. she’s like a younger sister to him, the two of them having grown close little by little since they’d been paired together during her specialized training. if he’s feeling uneasy, he can’t begin to fathom what must be on her mind with the death of park jaekwang and all that’s followed since. especially after today’s announcement.

he knocks gently on her door, waiting a beat before calling out, remembering that she might not even be here, but he wants to first anyway. “chipmunk? it’s me, jihae… are you there?”

Aftermath || Cami x Hayley

She hadn’t seen Hayley in what felt like forever. It wasn’t exactly a concern normally, seeing as the vivacious young woman tended to pop up sporadically at the bar. She wasn’t a regular customer; rather one of those types who came in on an ‘as-needed’ basis. A healthier habit, really. But after the Earthquake, there was far greater reason to be concerned. She’d kept her eyes peeled for days now, and hadn’t seen head or tail of the brunette anywhere. As such, the well-meaning bartender had exploited some of her shadier connections in order to ask around about Hayley. Although no one had any news of her, one patron was able to tip her off with respect to an address; which she put to use a few days later – on a trek to the Bayou.

It took her an hour or so to find the right house - and more than a couple of awkward run-ins with the overly suspicious inhabitants who seemed to be Hayley’s neighbours. Finally, she chanced on the right house, evident by the voice that called out in welcome. Sort of. Venturing further inside, Cami beelined towards Hayley’s voice, trying not to let her gaze wander around too curiously to take in her surroundings.

“Hayley??… Lucky you, seems like your place survived the Earthquake!” She rounded one corner, peeked through a doorway and saw the brunette lying down with one leg propped up in bed. “Hey there, stranger. Long time no see, good to see you in one piece.”
