The wings had sobered him up a bit, but Jay honestly wished they hadn't. If he was still drunk out of his mind, maybe he'd have an easier time justifying the current pathetic endeavor he had embarked on. Because, there was no two ways around it — he was waiting for her. In enemy fucking territory. And if she was caught up in a crowd of Reapers, and all he could do was catch a glimpse of her, even that would be enough. The party was winding down, but after a night as raucous as this one, there were still pockets of chaos around them that would subsist into the early hours of the morning. They still had a bit of cover, for now. It was too rare an opportunity to take advantage of.

He fucking hated the way his pulse thudded a little harder at the sight of her, how relieved he was that she was alone. Leaning back a bit, he rapped his knuckles against alley wall to get her attention. "Hey. Need a light?"

The king let out a deep sigh as he watched the small group of men from Archenland. He, unfortunately, knew all too well what they wanted. “They,” he made a small motion towards the nobles of Archenland as he spoke, “wish to open trade with me. Or, more accurately, try to take advantage of the fact that my kingdom is in a state of recovery.” Sometimes he wondered if the other nobles forgot that he technically was once the prince of Telmar and had been in court all his life. He knew the sort of political games that tended to come about with these sorts of encounters.
