To Infinity And Beyond // Closed // Tami
Chase's feet padded across the brittle grass. The day was warm and the skies were dotted with patches of grey clouds, though the sun seeped through the cracks. It wasn't anything peculiar, though; Washington weather was dreary at best. But what was peculiar was the apple tree in the courtyard. Chase hadn't seen a single fruit grown from that tree in over fourty years. What was it doing now?
He tried not to dwell on it too much -- the optimism in Stygian was dwindling and he didn't want to waste its minimal supply. Freddie seemed to have forgotten the incident between Chase and Ella, Ella was...well, she was still avoiding the both of them, and Tami was nice. She was a nice girl -- a little timid, but that could be beaten out of her with a good strong drink and a few nights of fun -- and he hoped the "date" he set up would go well.
He had in his hands a bottle of champagne (that was actually full of apple juice) and a small picnic basket and blanket. He lay everything out under the large expanse of the apple tree and sat down, admiring the beauty but being unsettled by the strange shade of color the apples were.
