@lxylafck
Okay, Jonas didn’t think it was possible to be this nervous. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t been over before. Hell, she had been at his place for the entire night not even a week ago. It had been one of the best nights of his life and they had spent most of it just eating take out and talking. So why was he so nervous now? Well, the answer to that was more than obvious. It was that little black box in his pocket. He had gotten into the habit of carrying it in his jacket whenever he went out.. Just in case the timing ever felt right. He had no idea if it would be right, maybe not for a long time. But it was always good to be prepared.
He climbed out of his truck with a bag of groceries, starting the walk towards Layla’s familiar door. Okay, dumbass, just breathe. You’re not going to do anything tonight. Just cook her dinner and talk. Maybe having an internal monologue with himself only proved the whole losing his head thing, but that didn’t really matter. He made his way to her door and plucked the key from its hiding place, taking a moment. It wasn’t even as if his nerves were bad. They were just.. Nerves. So he slipped the key in the lock and opened up the door, coughing to clear his throat. “Layla?”

[S] I don't have the patience nor the care to fake love.[S] Also, are you insulting my abilities?
This Devil's Workday | Devin & Layla
It was strange for Devin to be scavenging for food when he could manifest any food that he wanted. He could turn the dirt beneath their feet into rice if he wanted and it was some Godly power that he continually wonders why he got. It was also something that he felt guilty for, for not always making them food and guns and anything they needed. But if he did, especially for the fifty of them, he'd lose his god damn mind. And maybe it wouldn't go well. He didn't know everyone and if they weren't civilised -- if they were anything like where he lived when the world ended -- then he knew where it would go. And he couldn't risk that. Charlie would never forgive him.
He tried to stray from the bad news today, however, because maybe if he does, it'll be a good day. There were already inklings of one and a few of those had to do with Layla. She was a friend, and when she left, it devastated Charlie more than him, but there was still a part of him that had missed her enough to the point where he was all smiles when he saw her now. He grinned big in his silly hat as he walked up to her and stared, silent for a moment. And it might have been strange, but nothing with Devin seemed normal any longer. In fact, it seemed as if his head was floating back to the clouds. Maybe that was because he'd been practicing lately. The routine of it all had been smashed as per Charlie's request, but when he started up again, teleportation was a risky business.
"Hi. Layla. Hello. You know, when did you get back? Reckon everyone's happy you're here." He reaches up to adjust his hat, but his eyes don't leave her. It seems surreal that she ever left, too caught up in his own existence and a few others that no one else did exist.
