It wasn’t every day that Veronica was counting down the minutes until closing, but then again, it wasn’t every day that she had a date lined up once the store was closed. The whirlwind romance was new, and fun, and exciting, something that Ronnie had lacked in her life previously. For so long she had been focused on her business, a small bakery in the middle of town, that everything else had slid by the wayside. Her life had been a constant cycle of wake up, go to work before heading back home to sleep and repeat. Then one night, after meeting one boy, everything seemed to flip on its side. No longer was she thinking of the amount of paperwork she would have to fill out, or if she had enough ingredients to survive the day with orders coming in left, right and center. No, suddenly her thoughts were filled with the brown eyed boy who made her feel more spontaneous than she had in a long time.
So having text Nate earlier in the day, asking to meet at the bakery just after closing, Veronica began wiping down counters as the clock struck down to six. She had the date all planned out already. The place to themselves, coffee hot in the pot and a freshly bake cake to catch up on everything they had missed about each other. They had only been seeing each other for a few weeks, but their time together was something special — and the sex wasn’t half bad either.
When the bell at the door announced a customer, Ronnie placed a smile on her face, even as her eyes glanced over at the clock that showed 17:55. It wasn’t an ideal time for someone to come in, especially when Ronnie was hoping on closing up shop to prepare for her date, but she placed a smile on her face anyway — partly for good service and partly because the woman who had walked in was stunning. “Hi, is there anything I can help you with? We’re closing in five minutes, so there’s not too many options left but I can give you a discount on anything you do want.” She said, bright and cheerful. What was the harm in a few pennies being knocked off here and there? They would have only ended up in the bin, or worse, her home ready for her to gorge on.
