And now onto how Kate interacts with the other proxies... phew! got this out in time for crp day.. Included: Tim, Brian, Toby, Rouge

Before getting into all the others.. Since the proxy Kate spends the most time with is herself I thought it'll be nice to.. have how she treats herself first. After the circumstances of STA she rarely gets time to take care of herself anymore. It's always victim after victim.. She finds herself thinking her body expendable; her empty stomach will heal after eating itself inside out, her broken limbs will always regenerate. Kate just doesn't treat herself very well...

TIM

Tim often takes the leadership role in any relationship and it's no different with the proxies and or specifically Kate.

Especially since she's one of the younger proxies alongside Toby, he feels the need to take care of her.

Kate doesn't think much of it when Tim finds her collapsed somewhere and brings her back to the cabin Brian, Toby, and him live.. She's happy that Tim takes care of her, i.e. gives her some food, tries to get her to shower, as she interprets it as Tim slowly starting to accept being a proxy and therefore starting to see the Slenderman as the savior he is!

She likes it when the proxies are nice to each other too so she savors the pampering she gets from Tim when injured..

BRIAN

Kate and Brian don't really interact much.

Kate only "visits" the cabin when the Slenderman teleports her broken body nearby and Brian mostly stays cooped up in his room until "hunts"

it's hard for them to actually cross paths with each other.

Brian is also a very apathetic being, stuck between his limbo of given life and death, he can't really experience empathy unless it's for someone he truly cares about (see Tim or Toby on the occasion).

He had to quickly pull Toby from falling to the belief that perhaps the Slenderman is good when he spent too much time with Kate and also some other stuff..

They both mainly stay out of each other's way when necessary.

I'm sure there's been a time that Kate accidentally stole his kill, not knowing the other proxies were already on the victim

Brian definitely got pissy because of that..

He had to be dissuaded from being petty by Tim

TOBY

That is his best friend right there. Probably. Hopefully.

Toby immediately latched on when he first met Kate while on a hunt.

She's actually around his age! Do you know how hard it is to find proxies that you could actually relate with that doesn't treat you like a child...!

Tim and Brian do think that she's a bad influence to Toby. He's quick to do anything to please if it means that someone would tolerate him and that doesn't bide well with Kate's admiration of the Slenderman and Rouge.

He also started cannibalizing some victims because of her.. He just thought it was sick and wanted to try.

Kate appreciates his company whenever it's available, but she doesn't actively seek him out.

Kate makes him not feel bad about just wanting to kill sometimes. It's just more power for the Slenderman either way, if he needs to let off some steam on a random person then go for it!

The thing about Kate is that she rarely speaks above a few grunts. She may spit out a few words, but that's usually it.. Toby likes translating what she's thinking (mostly getting it wrong, but the sentiment's there)

ROUGE

Above all, Rouge is the only proxy still integrated into everyday society. (Tim and Brian may go into town, but that isn't often.. Rouge actually has a nice suburban house..)

That makes it hard for Kate to visit.. It's very upsetting for her..

Rouge and Kate are a little co-dependent on each other.

Out of the proxies they're the ones that actually believe the Slenderman does good which is what initially brought them close to each other..

It's very much a peculiar relationship.. Kate has mommy issues while Rouge is still affected by her miscarriage all those years ago.

Their relationship is built on spontaneity I would say plus Rouge herself is already a very brash person..

Rouge is another person that takes care of Kate's wounds and also buys her things to take care of her burns and cleans her and takes care of her haiirr... a lot of things

Kate looks up to Rouge as she's taught her a lot on how to just past the time. Whether that be wood carving (which she in turn taught Toby), hunting, cooking, kissing ah they just like each other a lot..

The only difficult part of their relationship is the fact that the Slenderman has Rouge patrolling the South while Kate's mostly situated in the Midwest..

oh anon reallyy.. you're making me blush........ Well I'll give you a twofer for getting me all flushed.. This one will be the tim tangent and I'll make another post for kate's dynamic with the other proxies ;P

Tim I'd say is the most guilt-ridden proxy out of all of them, constantly stuck in the past. He regrets his childhood, regrets burning down the institution he was kept in, regrets infecting the Marble Hornets crew with the Operator's sickness, regrets killing Alex, killing Brian, regrets not killing himself, and most of all.. Regrets accepting the Slenderman's deal and bringing Brian back to life to endure this hell with him.

And the murders he has to commit.. They never bring him joy, they never do, right? He's always so remorseful.. He doesn't want to do this.. Especially when he's forced to murder a child, he'll accept whatever punishment the Slenderman gives him whether that be getting his ligaments torn from bone or getting forced through brain exploding headaches.. But then the mission would just be passed to someone who have no qualms with killing children be it Kate or Rouge.. so wouldn't it be better to just give those children a quick death? (he chooses to ignore the fact that Toby choses to endure torture rather than kill a child) ((plus his killings are all mercy killings rather than having them deal with the Slenderman of course!))

Now as the self-proclaimed proxy who's had the most experience with the Slenderman and Operator, he worries for the younger proxies.. They're not taking care of themselves properly.. He just doesn't want them to feel lost like he did when he was a kid himself! Toby hates Tim when he gets in those self deprecating moods, he's a grown ass twenty-something man, not a moody teen. Tim always gets on his ass about not taking his meds, not eating enough, asking if he needs to sit down all pretty and talk about his feelings. It pisses him off to no end...

Lastly.. I can't talk about Tim without talking about Masky can I? Well... To me Masky was a very disassociated Tim and slightly under the influence of the Operator.. Under Slender, the whole Masky "persona" kinda disappeared (due to it not being the operator and also because Tim stopped really fighting against doing the killings) so it's just him and his own brain doing the murdering..

What was Kate's family like? (although only her mother is shown in the game)

That would be a hard question to answer "canonically" as, like you said, the game only mentions her mother.. But i will try my best to stick to canon with a little bit of my own thoughts.. ehe

This is CR's first letter to Kate after their falling out around a month after her mother died.. I'm inferring that he is talking about Beth in this little section and just decided to cross it out because it's a little salt in fresh wound-ish of him..

Anyways from this we know that Beth was protective of Kate, whether it be because she possibly knew about the Slenderman or (more probably) she didn't want Kate getting lost out there.. EITHER WAY Beth cares a lot about Kate and Kate cares for her mother too..

For other family members it's a little harder to pin down, so I'm going based on details I found around the Milens-Hayes household..

Most things in the house are in pairs like the two plates, chairs, or cups leading me to think that it's only Kate and her mom living here

furthermore, looking at Beth's bedroom, only one side of the bed is disturbed so it's likely that Kate's father isn't in the picture. I'd like to point to Kate's last name as another factor as to why I think so.. Her email is [email protected] while her mother has the last name Hayes. I like to hyphenate it as Milens-Hayes, but her having a different last name than her mother could mean that her mother got divorced

HOWEVER.. there is one thing that I am curious about...

there is another bedroom that belongs to neither Kate nor her mom.. First I thought it may have been a separate room for her father, but the room is very... prepubescent boy with the blue walls and awesome poster. Another thing is that the upstairs bathroom has three toothbrushes instead of two. I think there's 3 possible explanations for this with varying levels of plausibility but either

It's Kate's old(?) room

It's a guest room

Kate has a brother

I was leaning more towards the brother idea, but I felt like CR would've mentioned him in his reminiscing.. I guess it is up to interpretation ha...

If Slenderman had never noticed Kate, maybe he would have moved in with Lauren, they would have gotten married, they would have a daughter...

I've been thinking about this ask a lot ever since I got it.. it makes me giddy... This is going to be very headcanoned base with little inferences from the actual game haha

Well first of all for slenderman to not notice kate, CR would have to not enter her life so SCORE! (sorry for the CR hate ehe..) Anyways in a normal universe I still think Lauren and Kate would drift away after high school.. It's hard for Lauren to call Kate when she's dealing with her family's farm for the large part of her day after all

Still, going with the storyline of Kate's mother dying and her wanting to sell the house, I think that's when Kate and Lauren's relationship really starts to bloom again.. Lauren drops practically everything just to come meet her again face to face and although she still arrives at nearly 10pm it doesn't even matter.. The sparks are still there and it's like they were kids again hunched over Kate's family computer just searching for a new place for Kate instead of Neopets..

they stayed up until the morning and Kate felt bad having Lauren drive all the way back and still do farm work so she let Lauren sleep in her car and drove her back... I feel like after that while Kate continues to clean up the house and get it ready to be sold, she'd visit Lauren and soon enough she'd just stay the night.. a few days.. until Lauren just asked if she wanted to stay there with her

It takes a bit after moving in with each other for them to fully admit their feelings and get together but the tension was so thick whenever they'd see each other doing mundane things around the house it was just impossible to ignore

hehe now their wedding.. it'll be small as I feel that Kate would become a little reclusive after her mom died and she wouldn't have many connections.. Kate would pursue college afterwards online while helping in the farm when she can heehee...

One thing I do disagree with is that they'd adopt.. I don't see Kate and Lauren having kids I apologizee.. Though I think as they grow old they'd have some farmhands that they practically treat as their kids so there's that!!
