An Excerpt from "The City and its Kin" by K. Ginley: Most city elementals, being egregores of a community, are fiercely loyal to the populace. They busy themselves with maintaining infrastructure, acting as watchmen and keeping peace - some of the older and larger elementals, ones with real heft to them, don't keep themselves within the lines of picking up litter or paving roads. Enforcing the rule of law with violence, using their strength for demolition, or guarding specific high importance areas are all potential avenues for the stronger elementals in their course of employment.
Of course, the risk for collateral damage is high. Thankfully, given their nature, they are able to repair most damage to any city environs resulting from any of their battles. As for the people involved, that's a different story, and has lead to many cases where an overly eager golem had pounded someone into a fine paste for a crime on the tier of burglary or tax evasion. While harrowing, statisticians point out that even the more bloodthirsty elementals have a much better track record than an average cop.

when: 12 december 2021 where: knightman home in rhinebeck, ny who: @moiraxlibs + the whole family & friends
The day had finally arrived. It was their wedding day.
Hanukkah in November had swiftly turned into December which had in turn meant their wedding had come even quicker than Oliver could have imagined. Snow had started falling, as Oliver had predicted, in the first week of the new month and had coated their Rhinebeck home. It was like looking at a holiday card, the layer of snow perfectly embellishing their yard.
The chuppah was set up in their back yard, just on the edge of their deck so that it was framed by the surrounding environment. Oliver had built it, but Moira had made sure to add her own personal touches. They had set up the chairs, only a few as their guest list remained small and they had the tent nearby so that once the ceremony was over they could all move onto the tent for the reception and eat and dance the rest of the day away.
Moira had gotten to keep their bedroom as her waiting area, along with her bridesmaids. In the meantime, Oliver was in the guest room that Alexander had been staying in to get ready. True to their word, both couples had agreed to keep their outfits separate and that meant spending a good portion of the time before the wedding apart to avoid seeing each other before the wedding itself.
“How you feeling?” Benjamin asked Oliver as he finished using the lint roller on Oliver’s suit. It was a velvet blue suit, simple and perfectly tailored to fit. Oliver had also shaved for the occasion, deciding that he wanted to be clean shaven for his wedding. He had on a velvet blue kippah to match and his father’s talit lay close by. On Oliver’s lapels, he had a tailor stitch in the moon on one side and stars on the other in golden thread, representing himself and Moira.
Somehow, despite Ryan and Ben picking their own outfits, they had managed to coordinate. Ryan was in a blue suit that somehow match Oliver’s velvet blue, almost as if he was the night sky and Ben’s garment had hints a gold, as if he was the golden stars and moon in the sky. It had been unintentional, and yet it may as well have been as if the three of them had planned what they would wear together.
“Really good, actually,” said Oliver with a nod as he examined himself in the mirror to see his reflection looking back at him. His hair, recently cut, held up the kippah perfectly. HIs face was fresh and his almond shaped eyes looking bright as ever.
“You nervous at all?” Ryan asked with a grin.
“Not even a little,” said Oliver shaking his head. “What time is it?” he asked his friends. He knew it was probably almost time for them to start taking their places. All of their guests were already there, likely already in their seats or otherwise helping Moira. Catering was in the kitchen getting their food prepped for when the wedding was over. It seemed, so far at least, everything was going according to plan.
“Shall we get to our places?” Ben asked. “I think we’re all looking really good right about now. I can also go check on the ladies if you’d like me to. Or at least check on Shauna and see where they’re at.”
Oliver nodded. “Sure, if you’d like. I’m pretty sure you’ll have to text her, though. Moira insisted no one have a look at her dress before she walked down the aisle. In fact, even her bridesmaids may not have seen her get ready, but sure. I’ll go check on my dad. You do that and then, well, I guess we’ll start the wedding and I’ll get married.”
“Only thing left to do now at this point,” said Ryan with a nod. “You go, and we’ll get our woman so we can get everything together. We’ve got it from here.” He took Oliver’s hand and gave him a quick pat on the back. “So happy for you, man.”
“Thanks,” nodded Oliver. “Both of you.”
Ben had left already, heading off to knock on the door of Oliver and Moira’s bedroom. “How you ladies doing?” he called out.

Parlour 20. Vintage Mahogany
New baby I’d carry around everywhere. A new weapon, my shield to hide behind.
Had to drive my mom to work this morning at 7:40. She has to be at work for 8 and her work is less than a mile away. I guess that's where my love of being early comes from. Actually my dad's clock in his car is behind the actual time because he's always so early. Anyways I figured I'd make a quick Trader Joe's run because the best time to go is before 9. The busses are still out for the elementary kids and the store is pretty empty. I grabbed some stuff for the week and walked out with two bags and spent over $100 😬. They are double bagged bags so they were hefty. Then I ordered myself Starbucks because the Starbucks up at the stadium is the only one around that let's you order using the app and I feel like a weirdo when I order in person. Went home and unloaded my groceries then headed to my sister's. I let the girls out and finished my coffee outside while they laid in the sun. Then we went inside and I drank my pre-workout. Waited a little bit and then I went downstairs to start a 60 minute class with my favorite Matty. I beat my best hour output so I was happy with that plus I really like taking his classes and it makes me happy. Sat outside again with the girls then put them in their crates and left. Now I'm going to cut a bunch of peppers, onions, and mushrooms so we can make veggie wraps since I forgot pitas that we normally use.
