so you know how akechi was opening up more and more to akira before he tried to break their bond in rank 8 so it’ll be easier when he puts a bullet in the sweet boy’s head?
before that, i bet akechi thought smth like, “it’s okay if i open up to him. it’s not like he’s going to live, anyway.” as a way to rationalize the fact that he just… rly wanted to spend time w this guy and finally open up abt his miserable life for once w someone who could actually understand and care.
and i think akira felt/thought smth similar, too. it was easier to open up to akechi, not only bc akechi is a lot like him while also being different from his other confidants, but also, akechi was going to betray him and he knew that. so, it’s “okay” to be more open, to actually enjoy spending time w the guy. basically, akira rationalized his own feelings in a very similar manner.
bc, it’s honestly incredibly freeing to be able to feel that way w someone like that, especially since it’s not going to “matter” in the end anyway, right? i mean, you’re both going to betray each other, and there can only be one victor. so, it doesn’t matter.
except it did matter, and it does matter, and they both know it, and they can’t take it back or pretend it didn’t happen, either.
goro opened up a lot but i would argue that akira was, in a lot of ways, just as vulnerable.
