How can you tell?
Once Upon a Dream / Speedpaint here
The snow and swamp.
How would Goro and Sumire “snap” the other Thieves out of this broken reality? Take Ryuji or Ann for examples.
You also said one of the things about Samsara is accepting your trauma and forging your own path, so would that play any role or it’s mainly centered around Goro and Sumire and the Thieves kinda take a backseat story and character wise?
Originally I was going to explain this on a doodle comic i never ended up finishing, with Lavenza laying up the ground rules of how the "chapters" actually work.
Never ended up finishing it, but basically each thief is in their own pocket reality inside what is of reality now, they're kind of dream-like come to life narratives. So to bring back someone from an imaginary world to the real one, one needs to break their immersion. Maybe the narrative had plot holes or a character's actions don't make sense or even maybe what they're doing goes against who they are as a person. Though, what needs to be done to break it depends on the thief.
If this sounds similar to what joker was trying to do on Jan... yeah it is, (originally this was an au meant for that week in specific, the dna never really left tbh) just that now it's from Sumi and Akechi, someone that doesn't know Joker's friends well and another that does know sensitive information but wasn't there. (and while yes the thieves acompany them as they go along What I seek from each chapter is basically the third awakening (since here the thieves don't come on Jan 9th).
Once broken the little pocket dissolves to a fundamental theatre stage, then the thieves have to outsmart their own altered shadow (kind of persona 4-esque and the berserk Cendrillion) but in the form of Joker then extract whichever piece of Ren's heart got into them.
Now about the roles, at heart this is a Royal trio au but the dynamic between Sumi and Akechi is very central. However, I do not want to sideline the other thieves because 1. they're all abuse victims, it'd be silly to make something like this and not have them. and 2. They're all important to eachother and to Ren. I would like to see that in my silly made up scenarios + explore things that aren't much in the game.
Jester (the little joker thing) kind of plays into this too, they all get their sections interacting with it 1 on 1, a tea party for two of sorts.
Ooooooooooooooooooo!!
What fairytale roles do each of the Thieves, and I guess Goro and Sumire, play in your Missed Deadline AU?
The roles they’re given are actually their first persona’s stories (with the exception of Ann whom has a more Lupin/Carmen Sandiego story to it).
This is all due to Maruki suppressing Ren’s will, the main divergent thing is unlike in canon it was like if you tried to hydraulic press something that would make both the machine and the thing under pressure explode, So ren’s will got shattered and ends up on her vows (the thieves+Sumire) so she’s now kind of a husk of a human forever to be in dreams, there’s also a weird looking toddler sized joker going around which i will not get into it here.
Akechi on the other hand ends up in a weird “in between” place until she finds her way back to what is left of “reality” now this is mostly due to having 2 personas (not having awakened hereward).
Mostly concepts I’m playing around with, may change one day
HIHI HIIHHIHIIH IM OBSSESED WITH UR SAMSARA AU PLS SHOW FUTABAS THING IT I NEED IT I AM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH THIS IS SO GOOD AAAAAA
(also fellow rgu and persona liker. I played royal for the first time at the same time as when I got super into utena and it fundamentally chagef my brain chemicals. Fellow Anthy Himemiya likerrrr)
Futaba's chapter is one of the outliers due to necronomicon being, well, a book. So Futaba's role is almost haunting, both the warden and the prisoner, yet not a real character in the play.
It's set in an almost infinite library which also doubles as a labyrinth. The thieves here also have the secondary goal of searching for certain books as requested by Jester (the joker doppelganger that is tiny) and trying to avoid waves of a very fast creature hunting them.
( That's a little funny since it's the opposite for me, I started watching RGU while I was really into P5 last year! and I agree it was an unforgettable experience fellow Anthy liker)
