Ladies and Gentlemen, I've cracked the large scale puzzle that seems to be Goro Akechi. Or at least, what started as a joke eerily fits perfectly with canon and explains nearly everything about him.

Izanami could very well be Goro's mother.

I've organized it all into a document. Please tell me your thoughts, or simply share my bafflement with me.

Anne’s possible Birthday theory

Awwww crap, it just dawned on me, I didn’t list it in my previous list but....I think it might be Oct 31st aka Halloween! Oh man I don’t know why I didn’t realize this sooner.

It’s just a guess....but.....Hecate is known for witchcraft, ghost, crossroads all sorts of spooky stuff that happens on Halloween. It’s also something that originated in western culture and is very big in the US (which connects to her foreign roots), but it also ended up extending to Japan (iirc P5 has Halloween decorations during that month), which connects to her Japanese roots.

my absolute favorite thing about p5 tho is that it’s implied that the other phantom thieves can’t see any of the doors to the velvet room, and it’s also implied that akira doesn’t actually disappear from sight when he enters through the door

so like, i just imagine that whenever he enters the velvet room it just looks like his physical body is standing there disassociating and the other phantom thieves are just completely fine w/ it..... they’re used to it...... like damn there he goes again........

So, Yusuke can replicate skill cards by painting blank ones - the last time we saw something similar was with the Demon Painter in P2, who disappears from the series after that point. Going off the dates, P2 is set firmly in 1999, while P5 was supposed to be 2016 before they changed it thanks to the delays.

Yusuke is around 16 or 17 years old. Yusuke, who fate kind of brings into contact with the Velvet Room; Yusuke, who can inexplicably do something only Velvet Room residents can do, if you include Marie being able to register cards.

I’m not saying that Yusuke got part of the Demon Painter’s essence stuck in him when Philemon disappeared, or is the Demon Painter reborn, or even his son, somehow (though he does conspicuously mention he never really knew anything about his father.)

So, I was curious and looked more into Yukio Mishima, because Yuuki’s name has pretty obvious parallels…

And he’s been getting increasingly… let’s say, deranged over the course of his confidant link. “Yuuki’s Desperation”, ffs. So, one of the real Mishima’s books is The Sailor Who Fell From Grace with the Sea in which a boy, who is part of a GANG THAT IS CONTEMPTUOUS OF ADULTS AND REJECTS CONVENTION, grows obsessed with a SAILOR CALLED RYUJI and when said Ryuji falls from the pedestal they put him on, kill him. The gang’s chief also vivisects a CAT.

Yeahhhhh. Yuuki just shot past Morgana on my traitor suspect list. I really shouldn’t be analysing it, since I haven’t actually read it or anything, but I’ll start REALLY worrying if that book comes up as a question in class.

(I’M JUST REALLY CONCERNED OKAY, THAT BOOK ENDS IN A SUPER MESSED UP WAY)

Given how Yuuki’s relationship to the Phantom Thieves has panned out storywise, I think the Ryuji figure is likely to be Joker rather than Sakamoto. Though Joker also fits the role of the gang’s chief, kinda - he’s the leader, of course, but he’s also shown opening up a creature, which could be shifted around to be like him delving into the human soul.

It doesn’t have to be one to one, is all I’m saying.

(Spoilers up to mid-December, though it’s more musing with spoilers attached)

So I was thinking about Akechi’s other Persona being Loki and - is it just me or does a lot of it fit way better with MCU!Loki than Myth!Loki?

They did explicitly say that Personas come from archetypes and people’s perceptions of mythological characters and, well, MCU!Loki’s the most widespread version of the character at the moment, and still would be at the time of the game (it’s 2016. I don’t care if they made it 20XX because of delays. It’s still 2016.)

I mean - we have a bastard son who resents his father, who wishes to be needed by him and acknowledged, and plays hero while being the villain. Like, that is eerily close to Loki as he is portrayed in the first Thor movie, while not really sharing all that many qualities with actual Loki.

AND THE HORNS. THOSE ARE COMIC!LOKI’S HORNS.

Don’t tell me Akechi wouldn’t have picked up on it either, his weapons of choice are a LIGHTSABER AND BLASTER, he HAS gone to nerdy superhero movies, because he is a nerd - like, underneath the two-dozen layers of feigned perfection, villainy, and neediness.

Persona 5 Theory: Sad Yusuke Scene In this week's CM, we get a glimpse of an animated scene in which three girls are watching a newscast from a smartphone. They then collectively glance at Yusuke while he stares at his easel. I have two theories on this scene. Theory 1: This takes place BEFORE or DURING the time Yusuke joins the thieves. The newscast is either about his latest art piece or his mentor. Perhaps it's highlighting Yusuke's work. OR its highlighting his mentor who stole his work. Maybe his mentor won an award for Yusuke's painting he stole. Yusuke hears the newscast, which is why he looks sad and longs to defeat/stop him. However, I'm not entirely sure that's the case. Theory 2: This takes place AFTER Yusuke joins the thieves and defeats his mentor. Perhaps the newscast was about Madarame's death, defeat, or exposure as a con. Perhaps the girls are looking at him in pity OR they are spreading rumors about him. Either way, Yusuke looks sad ;__;

I had to add my two-cents regarding who the traitor is (if there is one) in P5. I'm going to say that I think it'll be Ryuji or Makoto. Ryuji as no one would expect him and from that quote of his "I don't want to die", I think he is doubting his team or is caught and, in a moment of weakness, sells pego out. Makoto because of PV4 scene it showed her when alarms went off and the words "what did we get wrong?" is shown. She may unintentionally leak it somehow and this scene shows her shock.

What if Makoto became the traitor due to the threats of Sae or something to do with Sae? I could see that happening.

As for Ryuji, I think he has a good chance of being the traitor if there is one. 

I don’t think the fandom has enough info to guess a traitor at this point and I still am not sure there is one, but it’s fun to speculate! :D
