(Previous anon here) I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT BURGIE AND HIS LITTLE BROTHER THE WAY HE JUST JUMPED INTO HIS OLDER BROTHERS ARMS AFTER PATIENTLY WAITING FOR HIS DAD TO FINISH HUGGING :( I have younger siblings and I relate :') AND SNAFU IS SUCH A COMPLEX CHARACTER! half the time I was just like in shock at how casually not OK he was, perfectly represented the terrifying part of war I think. And his departure from the train was perf imo- casual, full of feelings, emotion-lidded, but completely him-

(Still the previous anon) and how he glanced at sledge, and u could see the debate in his head of whether he should wake him up to say some slick mark, some semblance of a goodbye, maybe even a casual, “guess that’s it, huh, sledgehammer?” in his slow drawl. But in the end he decided, ya know what, screw it. No need for sentiment, for teary goodbyes, for awkward ways to say goodbye. He just looked at Eugene once and left for home. And that’s so utterly ~snafu~, you know what I mean?

god yeah its just….it’s exactly the way I would have expected him to handle having to say goodbye: not saying goodbye at all. 

which on the one hand is so frustrating because after all they’ve been through together you’d think they deserve a proper goodbye, BUT on the other it’s completely understandable, because they’ve already said goodbye to so many people that saying goodbye to the one person that matters most would be a nightmare. sometimes I wanna be mad bc just up and leaving my best friend is not the way I’d have handled it but thats the thing. Snafu isn’t me – of course he handled it differently. he marches to his own beat and it’s reflected in everything he chooses to do (or not do). 

you’re right when you say Snafu is a complex character. he’s actually one of the few characters that manages to escape me on a regular basis. I see what he’s saying and doing, and to a certain extent they make sense but sometimes I’m just like WHAT IS GOING ON SNAF??? WHY ARE YOU LIKE THAT???

tbh if you ever want to hear some really insightful thoughts on Snafu, I’d recommend stopping by Maddie’s blog and dropping her a line. she’s honestly the only reason I have any semblance of an idea about what’s going on in Snafu’s head. 

ALSO. HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE ENDING TO LECKIE’S STORYLINE??

I just finished the pacific help me I have so many feelings I don't know what to do !!!! The scene where Eugene just broke down when his dad took him hunting!!! And dr sledge was like!!! Eugene!!! U don't have to apologize to me!!!! Ahdjjdjdjdjdjdjdj IM OVERWHELMED

AHHHHH I KNOW THOSE FEELINGS WELL when I first finished the pacific I was a mess for DAYS

especially after watching the scene with Gene and his father, god that scene wrecks me every time. Gene’s so afraid of disappointing him, and I think that’s partially due to the fact that his father was right, at least in Gene’s eyes. Gene feels as though he came back with his soul torn out. But of course his father understands, of course he does, and you can see it visibly break his heart that Gene feels the need to apologize, because he should never have to apologize for what he went through, ever. And his father can see, though maybe Gene cannot, that his soul is still there. It’s bruised and bloodied and buried deep inside, but it’s there, and just needs time. Thank god his father recognized that and gave him the space he needed to begin healing.

HOW SWEET WAS BURGIE’S REUNION WITH HIS BROTHER?? I MEAN GOD, I CRY EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT

(I saw ur tag so I guess my name is the Pacific Anon now :D) and omg yeah I didn't think of snafus goodbye the way u put it but it makes so much more sense THANKS. And to answer ur q abt leckie, it was kind of heartbreaking awh, his family's ever the same, made his room into a storage :( broke my heart. U can tell how he ached for a hug or smth, but never gets the love. it made me happy to see him jump back into writing, clicking away on his typewriter. I felt bad for him and Vera BC she

-Had someone else now, and then suddenly she didn’t? It was confusing lmao I felt bad for the other guy cz it’s not like he did anything wrong but I was also happy for leckie. Then they also revealed leckie never sent any of his letters BC he didn’t think he’d get back? excuse me NOT OKAY. the scene where he was visiting his bud in the hospital (where he finds out the wars over) made me crack up BC he stuck a cigarette in his friends (I’m bad at names) mouth and the scene just made me crack up 

Because here was a guy that was injured all over, couldn’t even see because he had a bandage on his head, smoking away. Hahahahhaha. I’m glad that while he didnt have his family much, the bugger’s always going to be loyal as heck for his friends. overall leckie s story was bittersweet for me, loved his character. He was so kind in the most lowkey way, giving cigs to Gib, coming back from the hospital with gifts for all his mates, ya know? Cool guy. SORRY FOR BOMBARDING UR INBOX!

haha yeah! I wasn’t sure how to tag your asks, so I just used pacific anon, but if you want to give me a nickname to call you I can tag it as that instead ;) 

OMG YEAH, Leckie’s homecoming is hard to stomach, at least for me, like fucking how could his parents use his room as storage?? you’d think they would want to keep his room pristine, a way to hold onto him and his memory, especially should he have died, not to mention as a way of looking forward to him coming home. I don’t think it’s a case of just grieving/missing their son differently than most people either. the way his father treats him when they say goodbye doesn’t read to me like someone who struggles with saying goodbye to people he loves. he talks about the car more than anything, and the way Leckie reacts to this isn’t one of ‘aw, dad, I know what you’re doing, you don’t have to hide your emotions’ its ‘I cannot believe this is what you’re choosing to do right now, but really why am I surprised?’ which is heartbreaking. 

IM SO GLAD YOU RECOGNIZED LECKIE’S KINDNESS ON YOUR FIRST WATCH. to be honest, I had to watch it again before I really picked up on it. Leckie is a really interesting character, because in some ways he comes across as very bitter, but I think more than anything this is a product of his contemplative and idealistic nature. he sees what mankind could be, and is continually disappointed by what we choose to be instead. and this bleeds into his attitude, but doesn’t change his ideals or outlook, which is where the kindness comes in. the way he, like you said, brings gifts to his friends after his stay on banika, or checks on Gibson and gives him cigarettes before he leaves. the way he shares his orange with Sid after the landing because Sid specifically asked them to save one for him. the way he shares his letters with the guys, because even though they are private, he knows his friends need to hear. you know, in a way, I think he was writing those letters more for them than for Vera. at least later on. 

also, yeah when I first saw the scene where Leckie tells Vera he destroyed the letters I just…..I had to take a moment. all those thoughts, feelings, longings and rants, lost forever.

ALSO NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR SPAMMING ME WITH PACIFIC FEELS. I WILL TALK ABOUT THIS AS LONG AS YOU’RE WILLING. <3

The Annacus and Karin's Jaegar then walked to the edged of the bay. Karin turned to Lucas. "Best close your eyes, both of you." Karin warned. "Understood!" Gina replied over the radio. She released one hand from the joystick, reached her free hand up to her helmet and flipped down her tinted visor. She then yanked back on the joystick and her apache climbed upward, tipping an entire 90 degrees and coming to a near halt in the air. The Jaegar flew past her, and continued towards Karin and Lucas.

Yo I want to put these all in an organized page on my blog. Im about to do that.
