Pacific Aster along the Redwood Coast
Wish I could enjoy the fall flowers more before winter but the eczema on my feet is flaring up so no more walks for now. 😞
What I saw today

The lovely red is of course the Touch-Me-Not plant: Poison Oak Toxicodendron diversilobum. Somehow every year a few uninformed folks pick branches for a fall-color bouquet. Ow, rash, ugh.
The pale rays are native wildflower Pacific Aster Symphyotrichum chilense (syn. Aster chilensis) which is completely drought tolerant, requiring no summer water. This is quite late in the year for blooms, and I didn’t see any pollinator bees around, but Aster are strongly perennial, so there’s always next year.
