DeGrazia was fascinated by the beauty and lore of the Superstition Mountains, where he made many expeditions to the backcountry prospecting for gold. The grizzled prospector heading into the mountains with his trusty burro was a beloved symbol of hope and independence for DeGrazia.

"Pack Mule”, oil on canvas, 1972. “DeGrazia’s Superstition Mountain Collection” is currently on display through January 26th, 2022. The legends, history, natural beauty, and native cultures of the Superstitions inspired the artist to create several essays, drawings, and paintings.
