On the Pacific Crest Trail this year, I met a lot of people who were obsessed with hiking every step of the official PCT (that year, since the official trail is in constant flux). Not my jam, but whatever. A step back from this extreme form of purism would be connecting your steps from Mexico to Canada - maybe you hike into and out of town via side trails and end up missing a bit of the âofficial PCTâ, but youâre still walking the entire way. This makes more sense (to me). . On the Continental Divide Trail, hikers have the option of taking the Cirque of the Towers alternate in Wyoming's Wind River Range. If youâre an uber âhave to hike the actual trail the entire timeâ purist, you will miss this since itâs not technically part of the CDT. If you do decide to take this alternate, youâre rewarded with one of the most spectacular views of the entire trail from the top of Jackass Pass. . #WindRiverRange #Wyoming
