Togwotee Pass

This Pass was named for a sub-chief of Washakie, great leader of the Shoshone. Its elevation is 9,655 feet and can be found in the Wind River Range, Wyoming. Not seen in the image here, but Two Ocean Mountain is nearby, southwest of the pass itself.

My friends are a little safer the past two nights. 🐝🍯🐝 We had pretty large black bear show up for a midnight snack the other day, and caused a ruckus with these otherwise very peaceful bees. He tried to come back for a second round of easy treats, but up went a three strand electric trying to protect the hives. It’s seemed to work, a little zap, and a little harassment. The cows and horses showed up with true herd mentality and tried to scare him off. On the Pacific Crest Trail this year, I met a lot of people who were obsessed with hiking every step of the official PCT (that year, since the official trail is in constant flux). Not my jam, but whatever. A step back from this extreme form of purism would be connecting your steps from Mexico to Canada - maybe you hike into and out of town via side trails and end up missing a bit of the “official PCT”, but you’re still walking the entire way. This makes more sense (to me). . On the Continental Divide Trail, hikers have the option of taking the Cirque of the Towers alternate in Wyoming's Wind River Range. If you’re an uber “have to hike the actual trail the entire time” purist, you will miss this since it’s not technically part of the CDT. If you do decide to take this alternate, you’re rewarded with one of the most spectacular views of the entire trail from the top of Jackass Pass. . #WindRiverRange #Wyoming
