Thank you so much @moonskyrunner (on Instagram) for drawing Jay-three and Zymri!🩶🩵 This piece perfectly captures the duo’s dynamics- their seriousness about being Jedi (although unconventional ones) and their playfulness from the tight bond of teacher and student.
Ever since his parents- Rieve and Nox- discovered his Force sensitivity as an infant, Zymri’s dream has forever been to become the best Jedi in the galaxy. Reluctant to allow their son to join the New Jedi Order and hoping his Jedi aspirations were just childhood wishes, his mothers (specifically Rieve) asked their friend and fellow Hunter, J-3DI, to train Zymri as his padawan. Having already taken Rieve as his first padawan (she denies this), Jay-three accepts to become Zymri’s Master.
But, to Rieve’s dismay, Zymri’s childhood dreams never faded; instead, they only strengthened with time. Zymri’s resolve to become a Jedi led to the Hunters searching Balada the Hutt’s treasury for every single holo-recording about Jedi- even ones from the High Republic era, J-3DI receiving numerous upgrades from Sprocket- his Mon Calamari creator, and Zymri making his own padawan braid from discarded, grease-stained bolts once belonging to Jay-three; his braid is often clipped to his hip.
Although Zymri considers it to be uncharacteristic of a Jedi to have a favorite Hunter, he can’t deny that his Master holds a special spot in his heart. Zymri is never far from Jay-three (nor is his hallikset) and he admires his Master’s unwavering commitment to the Jedi code. (But every time J-3DI battles his mother Rieve in her Sith persona, Zymri is conflicted on whose side he should be on.) And even when Zymri leaves Vespaara and receives a new Master, he always carries J-3DI’s teachings with him.🩵🩶

I did redesign Zymri’s appearance! But, that topic deserves its own post. And thanks again to @moonskyrunner for your patience and creativity as I tried to figure out Zymri’s tattoos!
Fun Fact!: With this commission, I had initially planned that Zymri would have a serious expression like Jay-three as he takes his padawan training very seriously. But after plotting his story, I decided he needs some fun and mischief.😉 Maybe Zymri believes he can finally levitate or steal his Master’s lightsaber without catching his attention!
