This end of the dock was always loud and busy, even without customers, as fishermen and dock workers moved back and forth between ships and stalls, men and women alike yelling across to each other about tides and weighing and pricing, barking orders or laughing loudly or quietly murmuring to friends over sleepy cups of coffee. The fish markets were always lively, and Sokka remembered sitting on his dad’s shoulders when he was little, feeling like the tallest person in the world as he looked out across the seemingly endless aisles of fish.  Now, his world was infinitely smaller, and part of him preferred it.

also i've literally just hit the scene where zuko and sokka meet but i haven't written it yet so my apologies for the lack of actual zukka <3
