i'm sure most of my followers don't know anything about canoe slalom and even less about the "politics" of this sport, but PaddleUK (the national governing body of paddlesports in the UK) just told one of their top U23 (aka under 23) athletes that they're not only banning him from competing at the GB team selection, but also from speaking to his fucking coach and teammates.
the reason? the salary that PaddleUK pays their athletes is impossible to live on, so he has an OF to financially support himself and his family.
i don't personally know the guy, more of a friend-of-a-friend situation and we intersected at one or two events, but this is fucking preposterous and a horrible thing to happen to anyone.
PaddleUK, fucking pay your athletes living wages or shut the fuck up
