“come on and eat with him. i promise, i won’t let him kiss you again,” says peeta. 😭
"That's the worst of growing up, and I'm beginning to realize it. The things you wanted so much when you were a child don't seem half so wonderful to you when you get them."
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables (Anne Shirley)
NEW #KttFF PAGE! In which Simon has one last trick up his sleeve...
Katniss's debt-drive is especially heightened in this Games when she's out to protect Peeta even more. Even Finnick, whom she barely knows and barely trusts, she thinks will be harder to kill later because she'll almost certainly owe him more as time goes on. It's always about to whom she is indebted.
I love it when he says that no one there is a Victor by chance, "except maybe Peeta." I laugh because I take it as a dig against Peeta, which is most of what he means. I do not laugh at Katniss's interpretation of the other part, some suggestion that because Peeta hardly killed anyone and just slid through the 74th on Katniss's tail feathers that he has maintained more innocence and is therefore better. Katniss has a weird sense of morality, but again, I must shake her by the shoulders and say that doing what you must to stay alive does not make you a bad person.
"Give me a man or woman who has read a thousand books and you give me an interesting companion. Give me a man or woman who has read perhaps three and you give me a dangerous enemy indeed."
-Petyr van Abel, translated by Aaron Lightner, published under the name Anne Rice.
